wine on the keyboard

Reno Ramblings

by Kay~Kacey on 8/3/2005

okay…Wednesday…the literacy signing was great this year, with the tables a little further apart so it wasn’t quite as crowded. Did some damage to my credit card there… Was the official go to girl for Suzanne when she realized there was a BAR at the signing and they had WINE. We helped keep the bartender company…

Wednesday night we met some of Suzanne’s friends from the M&M conference…Gena and LaShon. Really cool nice people! I’m SURE Suzanne will have pictures of them on her blog. We went out to eat at the casino and laughed and had a great dinner. Michelle Willingham and I ate with Mary Schramski and Leanna Ellis. Fun. Fun. Don’t let Mary fool you…she’s a wild woman at heart. (and I read her first NEXT book…WHAT TO KEEP on the plane ride on the way home. It was excellent!) I just love the new Next line and their covers. At the Harlequin spotlight they showed how they were/are revamping the covers of some of the lines. That was really interesting. Some are subtle changes of the line name, some lines have very different covers. Watch for them in a store near you

Michelle learns to knitOn Thursday Debbie Macomber gave the luncheon speech. She gave out THE SHOP ON BLOSSOM STREET and A GOOD YARN at the luncheon, as well as a skein of yarn on each chair. That woman is market savvy and nice on top of that. (I also went to her workshop on High Concept. Get the tape. Or listen to it if you get the CD) Then she offered to teach people to knit that afternoon. They were making squares that Debbie was going to connect and make into afgans for Warm Up America. Here is a picture of Michelle at the knit in. Knitting with pens because they ran out of knitting needles. She knit a “square” only a mother could love. :mad2: But she did learn how to knit and had fun. That’s the important thing!
We met up with Amy Knupp for the welcome reception. We drank. 🙂 Then we went to Chevy’s and had margarita’s. I don’t remember much else of that night…

pj party Though Michelle, the trooper, stayed up and went to the eharlequin PJ party… (was that Thursday? It’s all starting to blur…) Here is a picture of Michelle in her cute PJ’s…and Suzanne…who fell asleep before the party started…that damn 3 hour time change was hell…

Later this week I’ll put up my notes on the Harlequin spotlight, and the Next Workshop. So stay tuned…

Michelle definitely deserved a win for cutest jammies. And I’m glad to hear you and Suzanne slept through the party. I did too. I must be getting old. :crazy2:
