A Great New Week

okay, I’m so ready for a new week. Things are settling down at work some. (I work in a pediatric dental office. It’s crazy busy in the summer time. But the kids are headed back to school. I think by the day after Labor Day, all the kids in town will be back in school. Most of them started last week, or this week.)

In an amazing feat of creativity I came up with 3, count ‘em THREE, new ideas for stories this weekend. One I had just the vaguest idea of before, realized I had it all wrong and figure it out to the point it made sense and I was excited about it! Does that ever happen to you with an idea you’ve had hanging around in the back of your mind until all of a sudden…BANG…it comes out as a GREAT idea?? Okay, I don’t know all the specifics, but I’m pretty well nailing it down. Man from the past. 20 year old secret. Sigh. Love it.

A high concept idea for my second book. I really liked all the talk about high concept at RWA National. It got me thinking. What is popular now (in the world). What are some universal themes we deal with. How can I query the book with a high concept tag. I love this story too.

The last one is an amnesia story, which I admit I’m a sucker for, ever since reading See Jane Run by Joy Fielding. This one is great and I’m excited about it too.

Now I just have to decide which one to start on first. I do have short write ups…long blurbs if you will for each of them. Which of course brings me back to my Fear of First Page But I’m really psyched about these new ideas, so I’m hoping the fear doesn’t defeat me this time.

I just love it when I start feeling creative after a blah slump! So, it’s back to the writing everyday. Affirmations everyday. I actually bought a cute lavender notebook to write them in. So, no more wallowing. It’s back into life with both feet!

Sunny Days

SunnyWell, the week didn’t get better. It go worse. Sorry I’ve been so scarce. My kitty, Sunny, I’ve had forever 18? years died this week. Peacefully beneath my desk while I worked. She’d been fine last week. Then in like 3 days time she just went downhill. I knew it was her time and didn’t want to stress her out and take her to the vet and have her all hooked up to IV’s. I wanted her home where I knew she was comfortable. So she slept out in her favorite place out by the front door behind the bush. And she slept in the front hallway. And she slept under my desk. She finally just didn’t wake up. I miss her.

And I’m very glad this week is over.

Mama said there’d be days (weeks) like this…

Monday: Middle son cut from high school soccer team. He’s played soccer practically his whole life. Coaches say they’ll post the list at 8am Monday morning on the locker room door. (why make the kids suffer the whole weekend…and doesn’t he realize that 8am might be just a TAD inconvenient for working mothers to drive their kid (about half the kids don’t have licenses yet) up to the high school to check the list???) BUT…the electricity was out at the school, and it was all locked up tight at 8am Monday morning… (school doesn’t start until Thursday) Was the coach up there with the list, or did he post it on the outside door to the athletic wing?? Of course not. :biteme: Anyway…I wish all high schools would go to a straight A,B, C team… Here most schools have Freshmen teams that struggle to get enough players. (I think Freshman soccer this year has like 2 extra players  ) Yet they cut like 23 sophomores and juniors. Whatever. I HATE SPORTS.

Later that day: check mailbox–rejection from Harlequin Super. Need I say more?

Today: took middle son off to college. He’s a sophomore. I cried AGAIN this year when I left him and his older brother (who lives there year round now). They were LAUGHING at me… :wtf:

I’m now sitting here drinking like the very mature person I am… (I did get a chance to see my old couches though…happily ensconced in the messy very lived in family room of my oldest son… COUCHES DO NOT COME BACK HOME.

And all I can think of tonight is….

After all….tomorrow is another day…
