2007 All Wrapped Up

by Kay~Kacey on 12/31/2007

It’s that time of year when I look back and see what I’ve accomplished for the year. But this year I’m not doing that. Why? Because my life changed so much this year, and I’ve headed in all new directions. I went from working way too many hours a week, to part time. I switched over and started a scary new direction with my writing…single title. I started a new direction with my blogging on Dandelion Blog where I post about how to blog and other techie stuff, as well as nurturing your creativity.

I’m not sure what direction I’ll take this blog here at WineontheKeyboard. But stick around and you’ll be the first to know.

I’m making all new goals for 2008, in all areas of my life.

Now for the important thing you’ve been wondering. . . Did I get Clarice?? Well, my boys know how to keep their momma happy! Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Clarice

What is a Blog Carnival

by Kay~Kacey on 12/20/2007

Have you heard of Blog Carnivals and wondered what the heck people were talking about? A blog carnival is a list of links to blog posts on a certain subject, submitted by a variety of bloggers. The host of the carnival then collects the links and does a blog post with all the links to the articles that make it into the carnival. You can read more about blog carnivals over at DandelionBlog. Suzanne wrote a whole post explaining what they are. Sometimes carnivals are ongoing, and sometimes they are a one shot deal.

The fun news? We’re holding a Carnival of Romance Writers over on DandelionBlog. Our first carnival will be posted on January 20th. We’ll take submissions until January 15th. If you have a great blog post about the Romance Genre, first sale stories, how to handle rejection, or any topic related to Romance writing, you can submit a post. This should be fun! We’ll keep a link in our sidebar to the submission page for the carnival.

Blog carnivals are a fun way to read a lot of interesting blog posts on a subject that interests you. You’ll find blogs you like that you haven’t discovered before. I’ve found a Knitting Carnival. This is their home page over on the Blog Carnival website. Or how about organizing? This takes you to their actual carnival hosted on the blog Declutterit.com. Browse the List of carnivals or search google for your “favorite subject” +carnival.

Do you RSS? How to set up a feed reader

by Kay~Kacey on 12/11/2007

I wrote an article about how to set up a feed reader. over on Dandelionblog. Specifically how to set up Google Reader. If you don’t use a feed reader to do your blog hopping, you might want to take a look at the article to see why you really DO want to use a feed reader.

In other news, I’ve updated my WordPress install and managed to break a bunch of my favorite smilies. Even though I’ve upgraded many times, this time I’m not having much luck with fixing them.

I’m thinking of overhauling my theme here soon too. So stayed tuned!
