A book so good

by Kay~Kacey on 7/20/2007

Have you ever read a book so good, that it made you not want to read another one? Or watch a movie, or TV show or anything? Because you’re still into the imaginary world. Into the characters. You can still feel that community alive. Still feel what those characters went through. Parts of the book play over and over in your mind?

I read a book like that and finished it a few days ago. An older book by Barbara Samuel It was called a Piece of Heaven. Her characters were so real. The setting was so THERE for me. I could feel I was there in Taos with the characters. And I didn’t want to leave. Okay, I sound like a fan girl here, but the book was just that good. Luscious word choice. Just a great read.

I know I’ll read another book soon, but right now I’m just wallowing in the families and characters from that book and I’m not ready to leave.

Have you ever read a book like that? Or have an author that does that to you?

That’s about it for pics from National. Now it’s time to get back to the real world.

I. Am. So. Tired.

Yes, it’s that stage of conference. When you no longer go out of your way to meet new people. You smile instead of say good morning. You apologize to the wall when you run into it. If there are no more chairs left in a workshop you don’t eagerly take a seat on the floor. You think…it will be on the conference CD.

National is so much fun…and so exhausting. I’m planning on going home tomorrow and crawling into bed for a long, LONG nap.

But let’s see. What other news. Lisa Jackson gave a cute speech today at lunch…along with props. Too funny. It was a very entertaining talk.

Our group of friends has met a lot of new people this year. You know, more cool kids :toofunny: or maybe we’ve just suckered them in and they’ll never get rid of us. Will post names, pics, and links when I get home and sort out the business cards and pictures.

Tonight is the Rita/GH EVENT. We’re going down to the bar early (what a surprise) and having drinks before it starts. Way early. Like an hour and a half early 😯 Shocking, huh? Our friend Jena Brown is a GH finalist in long contemporary. We’ll embarrass CHEER her on.

Okay, I must go see if I can coax my contacts into my eyes. They keep screaming NO! NO! But do I really want all those pics tonight with me in my glasses??
