A Love Affair with Words

by Kay~Kacey on 11/26/2007

Do you sometimes spend a lot of time finding JUST the right word when you’re writing? I mean A LOT OF TIME? :hide: I sometimes just let myself get lost in the world of synonyms and phrases. I’ve been known to wake up in the morning with just the word I was looking for the day before. My favorite source for synonyms is the Rodale book The Synonym Finder. There is just something comforting about looking through a book for the right word. I find Word’s thesaurus too limiting. I’ve been known to look through this online thesaurus when I’m in a hurry. Doesn’t give me the same love of the hunt though.

So what’s your just-the-right-word-finder of choice?

Great Joy at Kacey’s House

by Kay~Kacey on 11/16/2007

RudolphYes, I’m just so excited! Guess what’s at Build a Bear this year? Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Clarice! Those of you who know me well, know a bit about my obsession like of all things Rudolph.

Now I have a Rudolph from Build a Bear, but I don’t have Clarice. No, go look. I’ll wait. She’s so cute! I NEED her. No, really, i do. I can either borrow someone’s child and sneak into Build a Bear with her, or try and talk one of my grown boys into going with me…

I could order her online, but that seems to defeat the whole purpose of Build a Bear, doesn’t it? We’re lucky enough to have a couple Build a Bear shops in my town. As much as I try to avoid malls, I’m thinking a trip to the nearest Build a Bear is in order.

Writing Vacations

by Kay~Kacey on 11/13/2007

No, not taking a vacation to write…though that sounds really, really nice :typing: I mean taking a break from writing. I often take the month of December off from doing much serious writing. The holidays are crazy busy, my kids all come home and I like to just hang out with them.

I’m going to take Thanksgiving week off this year, but still plan on writing until the weekend before Christmas. Then I’ll probably not do any serious writing until after the new year. I always hit the new year off with a running start.

Do you take time off from writing during the holidays?
