My husband didn’t bring any hideous furniture into our relationship, but he did bring a hideous poster of James Bond that he loved. Fortunately we have just passed it off to my still-single younger brother!

Huge 1960′s television/streo console, Early American cabinet. Yes, it still worked and yes, he wanted it in the bedroom, and yes, 1.5 years later , he and his TV lived happily ever after, without me………dodged that bullet….whew.

I got married pretty young, so neither of us had furniture, but my Manly Beef Cake had/HAS a hat that looks like a raccoon. Not a raccoon cap like Davy Crocket. Think cartoon raccoon head. It’s hideous. He insists on keeping it because he has worn it on every camping trip he’s ever been on and wants to hand it down to my son when he gets old enough for Scout Camps. lol

I think I need to clarify!!!

The hooves had washed up, not the pony! It was a couple of hooves only.

We were so young we had nothing to begin with, but he does bring me the weirdest things from his walks in the woods. I’ve had skulls and vertebrae from dead animals, deer hooves, stuff like that. One thing even started smelling. Oh, it was the hooves of a dead pony that had washed up on the beach in Assateague State Park. I could not believe he brought these home to show me. And would not let me throw them out. Take them to school and show the science teacher, he says. OMG, the stench!

Since my husband had just returned from Germany a few months before I met him, he was living with his mother and didn’t have any furniture or much of anything else except his clothes (oh yeah, and two kids!).

I honestly can’t narrow it down to just one thing. When we married two years ago his house was filled with ugly things. Heck the man still had clothing from high school for goodness sake.

Neither my husband or myself had any furniture. He had been living at his grandparent’s house and I at my parents.

My parents didn’t bless the marriage, so we got nothing from them.

His grandmother bought the contents of his great grandmother’s house and gave it to us. Some of it was junk, but some was antiques that I still have today.

Fortunately, he wasn’t attached to any of it, so as we could we replaced the junk stuff.

He brought this couch. He grew up bouncing on it. Now our child is doing the same. It is about 25 years old. He won’t let me get rid of it. Help!!!

I can’t recall if my late husband brought anything really hideous into the marriage. Oh, there was that “love” card from his ex-girlfriend that remained in his desk drawer for nearly a year after we married (he dumped her for me). I occasionally opened the drawer (bad girl!) to see if it was there, but I never said anything to him. One day I watched him read it and toss it in the trash. He still never knew I knew about the card.

Today will be a catharsis, Kacey! You and SuperGuy load that baby up, cover it up with a huge blanket (to save some embarrassment), and get rid of it.
