So a lot of you commented about my 13 things on my desk. About my Whee-lo toy. I love my whee-lo toy.

Of course I thought it was Wheelo, not Whee-lo so my googling for information and a place for you to get one was stumped for a bit… Cracker Barrel has them, but their online shop shows them with colors on the inside of the wheel instead of the holes. Not sure what is up with that. You can’t improve on a classic! Besides it’s cool to watch the holes on the wheel spin…

I consider it a kind of vintage toy. Whatever vintage might mean to you. I play with it when I’m stuck with my writing.

I play with it when I’m avoiding paying bills.

I play with it when I should be cooking dinner. Doing laundry…well, you get the picture. I’m so mature like that. I love to watch the wheel spin as I rock the whee-lo up and down. It goes up one side of the rail, then down the other. Spinning wheel. Up and down. Up and down. Wait, I’m still here. I was playing with my toy.

You notice he likes to be photographed. He’s agreeable like that. How do I know my wheelo is a male? Come on, shiny and has a wheel. Has to be male.
I don’t know if you’re old enough to have had one of these as a child, but I’m just so excited I found one again.
(I even had one in my desk drawer when I worked at SuperGuy’s office. Don’t tell him!!) It’s like the ultimate baby boomer toy. I love my wheelo. Well, not as much as SuperGuy or my kids or my camera. But it comes in a close tie with them. Sometimes comes out ahead of the other males in the house, come to think of it…
Have you ever had a whee-lo? Any toy from your childhood that especially stays in your memories?

Yes, I had a whee-lo. And chinese handcuffs. And silly putty. And….daydreaming back to childhood days. Oh, Geez, I’m gonna be here all day. Thanks!
Whee-lo … yes! I do remember the name now, and I did have one. I loved my Barbies as a child, along with their houses and cars. I also entertained myself with my Kenner projector. We’d take it into the bathroom on a rainy day and project Tweety Bird on the bathtub tiles (we’ve come a long way!).
I don’t have a desk toy. Now I think I need one!
OMG I didn’t know they still made those. How cool. The next time we are at Cracker Barrel I will have to get one.
LOL – we had one at Grandma’s house. The whirring noise annoyed my Dad, though, so no Whee-lo at home. The slinky could go anywhere though. Go figure.
Oh yes! and slinky and klackers and etch-a-sketch and hula hoops! Thanks for the memories.
I forgot all about those! Loved them as a kid…and most likely would today.
As MPM said: Thanks for the memories!
Nope… never heard of a wheelie. I was a kid who played with HotWheels cars and model horses. But mostly I kept my head buried in books. Yea, I was a tomboy geek.
I had one as a kid! Not sure if it was the “Whee-lo” brand, but I had a toy like that.
And Lincoln Logs, and Tinker Toys and Lawn Darts.
Now my kids have things like K’Nex (loads of fun, btw) and Legos and video games.
Oh, yeah. Slinkies and etch-a-sketch. The Photography One has an tiny etch a sketch as a desk toy…
My boys were way into legos as boys. We had castle guys and space ship guys. We…oops, I mean THEY would spend hours creating big towns of castles and space stations.
Didn’t have a whee-lo. I had a doll house that I loved. Can’t remember much else.
I’ve never heard of that before! But it looks neat!
I never had a Whee-lo, but I always wanted one. My husband had one–indulged child! I had Creepy Crawlers, though. I made so many bugs! And that satisfying hiss as the hot plate hit the water. Mine had a bonus–a short to the metal case, so I got shocked when I touched it…good times.
TOO FUNNY! My cousins and I were trying to remember the name of this toy last night, we were all on hunt today and my cousin found it, along with a bunch of other cool vintage toys. Thanks for posting this!
