A Little Rain Must Fall

by Kay~Kacey on 5/8/2008

Sometimes into every life a little rain must fall…

rainy day

Earlier this week my host was having problems with my server. The server had been going down a couple times a day for the last week or so. I finally got fed up and emailed them to move me to a different server. They did that, so I finally had my site up. (knock on wood.)

THEN…

So yesterday I had planned to do a lot of online stuff. Things for work. Online bill paying. Blog hopping, of course. The Photography One was emailing me his choices of photos to turn in for his Photography final and I was going to help him pick which ones to turn in. My internet went down about 6 am when storms went through. It was down all day. :mad2: 3 calls to ATT tech support. Finally I woke up at 3:30 am today and got up to try tech support again. 30 minutes later they had me connected but I have a “weak signal”. I hate it when that happens. The tech support told me I had a “weak signal” in the same tone of voice one would say “you’re a drunk and a liar.” You know the tone, a little disgusted, and a hushed voice. 🙄

So the secret double probation technical support will call back during working hours, and if I would like to sit at home all day, they’ll call me back sometime and fix my line problem. :wallbash: Whatever. At least they no longer call themselves “customer service”

But I can blog with my weak signal, so life is good. It’s still raining off and on though…

sky after the storm

I hate it when my connection is down! I get that whole panic, oh no! How can I do my blog post? Must find an internet cafe! Oh. My. Goodness. I’ll have to WRITE OUT MY CHECKS!! to pay my bills 😯 I so rarely write out a check these days. Not sure I’d remember how to fill one out 😆 What about you? Do you panic when the internet goes out? Get aggravated? And why does it always go out on days when you NEED the internet?

I did get a bunch done on a jigsaw puzzle while I waited around and tried, repeatedly, to get on the internet. I even resorted to doing laundry and cleaning house. I tell ya, I was desperate! Finally, SuperGuy took pity on me and took me out to dinner…

I feel your pain. I have days that it would be ~ok~, and I say that word loosely, for my internet to be down……and then when it actually IS down, it’s usually the day I need it the most. Grrrrr! :cursing:

And to think not THAT long ago, there was no such thing as wide-spread internet!

Trucker says I suffer from withdrawal symptoms without the internet. I go into convulsions and it’s not a pretty site. The first time I went with him on his truck for 8 days with no laptop and no internet available I seriously thought I would have convulsions. It was hard to say the least.

I only panic if it goes out at work – because THEN how am I supposed to occupy my time? Work? Pfftt…that’s just crazy…

Yes, I panic! But dial-up never goes out, you know. Hey, I finally got satellite internet.

Um, but it’s not working. Fortunately, I still have dial-up for a few days.

They’re going to come out to fix it. Hopefully.

I NEED the internet every day. I get terribly distraught when it doesn’t work!

No internet for a day? Yea, I spazz but then I actually get stuff done around the house and my family has clean clothes, dinner prepared, and all that. So internet is bad for me but good for the family! 😉

You wouldn’t want to be around here if the Internet goes out. I pitch a fit and fall in it. *g*

During our recent move we had to change internet companies. The new company had a nine day waiting period before we could get hooked up. So I went over a week without internet. THAT is what we call Hell on Earth! I never realized how much I depended on it until I couldn’t have it. My poor hubby lost all use of his work laptop when he was home, because I had to have my fix.

I can’t stand being without the internet. Fortunately, I don’t miss it as much when I’m at home because I have it at work and that’ s pretty much all I do all day is be on the ‘Net. 🙂

I can go longer without food than I can without the internet!

On two occasions my blog just disappeared. I didn’t know if it would come back, but it did. I feel so vulnerable having no control of these things. It’s bad enough when I lose something but when someone unseen does, it’s too much.

I love that last photo. So beautifully moody.

You know, our oven died about a week ago. And I use it all the time, so you’d think I’d be fairly upset. But I was doing okay.

Then Verizon came by to tell us they would be doing some work and there might be some interruptions in our service.

Um, total meltdown.
