Time to be Me

by Kay~Kacey on 5/24/2008

You know, I’m really loving this stage of life. Really. There is time to be me. Without the guilt of “I should be doing this for that person.”

I can’t imagine any other stage of life where I would have had the time to invest in learning photography like I have now.

I’ve taught myself quite a few new things in the last 5 years or so. Knitting (love handknit socks!), web design, web site optimization. Well, and of course, photography. Which then led me to learning photoshop.

later in sunset

Don’t get me wrong. I loved being a mom. Well, I am still a mom. But I have time to explore all these things that interest me now.

(these sunset photos brought to you by the commercial breaks in Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday… 🙂 )

So, now that you have more time, what are you learning to do? Or even if you don’t have time now, what new things are you trying? Okay, and if you have a bazillion toddlers and have no time what so ever…what would you LIKE to learn to do?

I’ve been learning to play bridge with Mental Mama and her sis in law. I’d like to say I’m learning more about photography. I have the books…it would help if I’d read them! :book:

ROFLOL Here I am with my tween, toddler, and baby with barely time to breathe but still learning. I started learning photography back in December. And next thing I want to learn is sewing. After I’ve accomplished that, I’d like to learn to knit.

Later on, when I have much more time, I’d like to learn horseback riding all over again. And when my kids are out of the nest, I’d definitely like to take my interests up a notch. 🙂

“Brought to you by the commercial breaks in Grey’s Anatomy” ahahahahaha – I love it! We are SO much alike.

Photography pretty much rules my life when I’m not working. I would DEFINITELY love to learn more about PhotoShop (Hubs knows his way around it, but I don’t, because I haven’t taken the time to mess around with it – it seems too intimidating). Other than that, I would love to learn more about html and website creation – I know a bit about Frontpage, but that’s it. I would also like to take the time to learn how to play my guitar – but, photography always beats that one out when I have some free time 😉

I’ve learned to quilt and of course, photography and photoshop. I am enjoying life much better now that I have a 9 and 11 year old who are more independent. How did I survive the toddler years??

Omigosh. My life has changed so much in the last year, since I gave up homeschooling and sent the kids off to school. It ROCKS. I’ve begun taking classes for a master’s. Am starting a real job next week. Learned to tat (I already smock and love it). Life is good.

I love how this was brought to us by. And these are such nice photos.

I guess what I’d like to learn is how to take better photos.

You are at the place I long to be. I’m, unfortunately, finding that my time is shrinking. I thought the toddler years were tough but I’m finding that now that my kids are older and more involved in activities, I have less time than before. And, oddly enough, they want more of my attention. I thought that would dissipate.

I want to learn to knit. I want to spend more time on my crafts like cross-stich and crochet. I want to spend more time baking. Baking bread is one of my favorite activities and I’ve designed my ktichen around it, however it is a big time commitment and not one that works well with soccer and baseball schedules.

And, of course, write more.

Love that top photo, it makes me want to hit the road.

I’ve been lamenting the empty nest, too. However, it’s time for a new phase (although I know I’ll have some tearful nights at first). I plan to do more yoga, ride my bike more, and ponder my next move!

Yep…you’re right there with me. I love that.
