Lavender Lies
by KaceyOkay, confession is good for the soul, right? I told a lie. Yes, I’m confessing right here. Right now.
So, you know when I posted about the lavender out my front door? Well…sigh. Big boo-boo. SuperGuy so kindly pointed out to me…
I’d posted a picture of the Speedwell flower that he’d planted among the lavender. Who knew? At least he didn’t out me to my blog. Well, I guess I’m outing myself, huh?
THIS is my real lavender:

The silly thing? Remember this spring when I had an unidentified purple flower? You guys helped me decide it was Speedwell… Well, I mentioned to SuperGuy that I liked it. So he bought a few more plants and plopped them in by the lavender. You’d think after all that discussion on “what is this plant“, that I’d finally recognize Speedwell. Well, not so much.
So, for the record, THIS is Speedwell:

This is the Speedwell poking it’s head up among the lavender and cruelly trying to trick me:

Yes, I promise to recognize it next time. Probably…

They’re both beautiful flowers.
Oh, so that is what it is called! I think i might have speedwell. Maybe. i am not so swell on plant id either
I have had both Speedwell and Lavender growing in my garden (neither seem to survive at my house) and I didn’t notice that it wasn’t Lavender!
I love purple flowers. I have a plethora of purple posies!
Well, they are both lovely! But frankly I am shocked, shocked at your misleading statement, and I’m not sure that I can ever trust you again!
Just kidding!
Have a wonderful weekend, kacey!
xoxo,
Mary
We call this plant Veronica spicata.
Well, it is lilac in color, right? I would make the same mistake, too. Don’t you fret!
I never would have known the difference.
They look the same to me!
I call that plant Veronica. That’s okay, I’m always calling people the wrong name. It’s STILL lovely.
Well it’s pretty. It’s all lavender when it’s that color, isn’t it?
