Nature that takes your breath away

by Kacey

I cannot believe how lucky I am sometimes. To live in my house, backing up to my woods. Where creatures like this come up and share their lives with me.

Sneaking up to the base of the bird feeder to get the scattered seeds. I feel like I can almost reach out and touch this beautiful deer.

Then he looks up at me, wondering if I’m safe or a danger. Staring at me. Almost as if this brilliant creature can look into my soul.

Sometimes I think, in our hurry and bustle that is real life, we forget to appreciate the wonderful things in nature that surround us. So today, how about pausing for a moment in the rat race which is daily life, and look up at the sky. Listen to a bird, the crunch of a fallen leaf, the music of the wind in the trees. Stare up at the clouds and see what you can see in them. Take just a moment with me to appreciate the beauty that is nature.

  1. We too have deer but rarely see them. They stay in the woods and don’t even come out to graze. There must be some good eats in them there woods

  2. How can anyone harm such a lovely creature?

I sit in my hot tub a lot of nights and just stare up at the stars or the moving clouds illuminated by moonlight. It’s pretty awesome, and it makes me realize what a mere speck I am in this universe.

  3. Great thoughts to start the day off beautifully!

  4. You are a woman after my own heart, Kasey!
If I could, I would just walk in the woods all day. Or sit in a park and watch the birds and squirrels.

  5. That’s a beautiful deer! We have so many deer here but I’m terrible at getting their picture!

  11. Great photos. I’m in Orange County, and believe it or not we see deer frequently too. Our backyard backs up to a canyon and small lake. I think they are so beautiful, but I never seem to have a camera handy to take their photo. Beautiful pictures!
