What I Miss Most

by Kacey on 11/13/2008

You what I hate most about the cold weather? Well, besides the snow and ice storms? Besides not being able to go barefoot? I miss sitting on the front porch and sipping wine with SuperGuy and just talking. Talking about anything and everything. Watching the world go by.

wine on front porch

When it stays light so late we can sometimes even squeeze in time to sit and unwind on the front porch after work. But we always manage to find time on the weekends for front porch time. That is an advantage of being of baby boomer age. We’re no longer running crazily between all the boys’ sports practices and games. We have more couple time, though we’ve always tried to make couple time a priority, otherwise it gets pushed aside for everything else that is life.

I love that front porch. Sitting on the wonderful Adirondack chairs that SuperGuy made. Sigh. I will miss it.

I guess we’ll just move on inside and have to sip wine in front of the fireplace…

Funny how the simple things mean the most.

On the UP side. Wine in front of the fireplace = romantic. :)

As long as there’s wine involved, I’m pretty much content;)

It’s funny because we are finally getting into the season where we can spend a little more time outside. Its so hot in the summer, by the time it cools off its time for bed.

We have a gazebo outside with a propane heater, so we will go out there on fall mornings and read the Sunday paper. Then the kids wake up….

Either way, time with hubby + wine is totally delicious no mater where you are!

We are in the same boat Kacey – packed up all the porch stuff back a couple weeks ago. Way too cold to sit out there now. No fireplace either, but we enjoy a few moments at the table before dinner. With wine of course. Makes us appreciate the summer when it rolls around again.

Hmmm, what about a table-top sized propane heater?

You hit it on the head when you mentioned the constant running around for kids activities. Nice ritual you’ve got there!
