I don’t mean comfortable shoes. (Well, they are comfortable.) I mean comfort shoes. Shoes I grab when I need some cheering up. Similar to wrapping up in the afghan my grandmother made for me when I was a little girl.
I love these Minnetonka moccasins. I have to confess…this is a replacement pair for ones I got, well, let’s just say maybe 20 years ago? 😯 These are probably “just” 10-12 years old or so. 🙄 The bottom is worn slick now, so I have to be careful where I wear them. I got my first pair at a little shop in Estes Park, Colorado. Sigh. Such good memories of Estes Park.
They are scuffed and worn. I don’t care. I still reach for them. Time and again.
They have dorky flaps on them and leather ties. Way out of style (if they ever were in style.). But I don’t care. I also have them in black, which I like, but those aren’t my comfort shoes. These are. I love these Minnetonka Moccasins. Truly love them.
Sometimes they even make it into my closet…but more often you’ll find them kicked off somewhere in the house. By my desk, or by the sofa. Because if I’m not wearing my comfort shoes, I’m likely to be barefoot.
Which leads me to:
Now, see the lovely texture I applied to this photo? The vintagey look? (vintagey is SO a word, even if the Apple spellcheck doesn’t like it!.) Well quite a few people around the blogging world are addicted to textures right now. You know who you are. 😉
So make sure you come back here on Monday for a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT. Really. Would I lie to you? It will be BIG and exciting and possibly earth shattering. Okay, okay, I think it will be fun though! I need some more time to get the post ready. (Well, come back this weekend too. I’d miss you if you didn’t drop by and say hi to me on my weekend posts too!)
I recognized them right away, because I have a bout 5 pairs of Minnetonka moccasins! Black, brown and that camel tan color. There is no finer shoe made, IMHO. I bought my mother a pair years ago and she now has several pairs.
Their web site is in my favorites and I also have them in my Contacts and cell phone. As is the web site for Kino sandals from Key West. Fabulous!
They look very similar to a pair of shoes I had in highschool in the 80s. 😉
I have a similar pair of comfort shoes..comfort pants…comfort blanket…comfort gloves…but my favorite are my comfort slippers. They look awful, but I love them.
Any shoe is a good shoe. That’s what I always say. Could you please give us a hint about Monday’s Big Announcement? Thanks.
I’m assuming your announcement Monday involves textures, so of course I’ll be here. With bells on. Hell, I’m here every day. But maybe I’ll come earlier if you’re having an announcement about textures.
I have comfort socks.
And food. :lips:
i have a similar pair and i know just what you mean. I like the way you have posted about some so simple and made it interesting.
Estes Park? – now i have some good memories there too. : )
I’m all about comfort and don’t give a fig about fashion. I could fall in love with these shoes. I have pair of sheepskin house slippers that are to die for.
I love that texture! You take such awesome photos.
I used to love my Minnetonka moccasins too! Now I can’t wear them. *sigh*
I had a pair of comfort shoes and then my husband ran over them with the tractor and shredded them like junk mail in a shredder machine. 😯
Sad but 100% true.
While I am awaiting with great anticipation for the Monday morning announcement, I’ve just taken a photo of my Minnetonka’s, which are only a few months old (and have a peace symbol on the front) and are the most comfort shoes I’ve ever had my feet in.
In my childhood, about a thousand or so years ago, we went to Estes Park every other summer. What wonderful memories!
