Sparkly Things

by Kay~Kacey on 7/17/2009

I love pretty sparkly things. You know, like diamonds… 😉

Anyway, since I was the oldest granddaughter I inherited my grandmother’s rings. They sat in my jewelry box for years and years. Didn’t fit. Never really did anything with them. So a few years ago, SuperGuy took them to the jeweler and had them made into this cute little ring and necklace.

Are they pretty? I feel so connected and close to my grandmother when I wear them. I know they aren’t the biggest diamonds in the world. Okay, they are like tiny diamond chips. My grandparents didn’t have a lot of expensive things, but she wore her rings everyday from the day they were married to the day she died.

I love them. They inevitably put me into a good mood when I wear them. Not only because they were my grandmothers, but because SuperGuy took the time to go have them made into jewelry I could actually wear. :love2:

So have you inherited any jewelry that you like to wear? Or what do you have tucked away as a momento that you could actually drag out and use?

Nice pieces! I have a diamond ring that my dad wore. I seldom wear it, but it still means a lot to me.

We have a lot of things that belonged to various ancestors. My paternal grandmother had a bunch of candy dishes and I use a heavy leaded glass one to hold cotton balls in my bathroom.

I have my Grandmother’s wedding rings also. But they are tucked away. I cannot wear them because they were worn so thin that one of the has a break in the band.
Someday I’d like to make them into something I could wear.
I’m just not ready to have them changed yet.

I have my grandmother’s peal ring and her yellow diamond solitare. They are two of my most treasured relics. Gram was a simple person who possessed three rings, two of which I have and the third was her wedding ring. She gave them to me when I was in high school.

I have a beautiful saphhire and diamond ring that belonged to my grandmother. However, the actual story goes something like this. the stones were from of my great-grandmother Victoria’s braclet, and were remounted into a ring by my grandmother. This ring was supposed to go to my mother but it was given to me. I think my grandmother was mad at my mom and made sure I got it. Well I had it aappraised and it came back at $75.00 so I wore it everyday all through college, but I later had it appraised and that came back at $5,000.00. I stopped wearing it because I got afraid I would lose it!! I’ve had it resized because as some of you may know as we age and our hands get bigger. Now I only wear it for dress-up. This post had made me re think about wearing it more often. Thanks!

Nothing like this. I think it’s great that SG did that for you! And they look very pretty with the pink, BTW.
