I steal.
Yep, that’s the truth. One of our neighbors moved and has their house on the market. It rarely gets mowed, so SuperGuy usually catches their front yard when he’s mowing ours…and he takes care of their roses too, so they won’t die.
So…
I steal their roses sometimes. There you have it. My full confession. I’m a thief.
Okay, then. Go forth and enjoy your long weekend. We will. We’ll be sitting in the shady backyard and doing BBQ and having ice cold beers and just enjoying the summer weather. (if it doesn’t rain.) Oh, and I might need to harvest some more roses, yes?

Yes, those pesky unanswered questions. Here’s one for you.
Why do they call this bird a purple finch?? Does he look purple to you? No, he looks red, doesn’t he?
Red, I tell you! Did the group of guys that got together to name all the birds not know their colors? Purple finch?? That’s just….wrong…. :anyone:
What is it about guys and colors? Do you think they know the color “coral”? No, they’d call it orange, wouldn’t they? No idea of the subtleties of shades and hues. Okay, I rest my case. This bird is named incorrectly. The end.

Any ideas?
Here she is next to a grackle to give you an idea of the size. I thought it might be a female indigo bunting…she showed up about the same time, but she’s larger than the male indigo.
See, here is one of the males? What do you think? Got a good bird book to look it up? I’ve looked in my Golden Book Birds of North America.
So, as usual, I turn to you my blogging friends, for answers. Anyone??
