Great Joy at The Love Nest

by Kacey on 6/6/2011

Ah, there was singing and dancing and happiness at The Love Nest this past week. Why, you ask?

milk glass lamp on table

You remember The Tragedy of the Milk Glass Lamp, right? Where I knocked over the lamp and broke the lamp shade? Tragedy, I tell you!

Then my subsequent hunt for a replacement shade and I settled on this one, shown above.

Imagine my joy and surprise (and a bit of hugging SuperGuy and clapping my hands and a bit of jig in the middle of the Antique store)…I found this!!

New milk glass lamp with roses

Yep, I found another lamp! The milk glass part of it matches my old lamp, but the stand is a bit different.

two milk glass lamps

So now I have two lamps, if I want. Or I can put the top of the new lamp onto the old base (’cause I like the old base better) Ah, life is good, I’m telling you!! Color me happy.

(Found at The Brass Armadillo out of Kansas City. (Grain Valley) Huge antique mall, but very hard to find!)

Mason Jars

by Kacey on 5/20/2011

flowers in mason jar

Arranging a bowl of flowers in the morning can give a sense of quiet in a crowded day – like writing a poem or saying a prayer.
~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

I’ve become quite taken with old Mason Jars. I love them for vases, candle holders…well, just about anything. I love the perfect shade of blue they are. I bought a whole boxful to use for candles outside in the courtyard…you know, if the sun ever shines again.

Not that I’m not addicted to other vases too…like milk glass, you know. But Mason Jars just really appeal to my sense of…I don’t know…my sense of blue??

Enjoy your weekend, my friends. Hope you have some sunshine in your days.

Lazy Fun Day

by Kacey on 5/2/2011

After a whirlwind of decluttering and having a bunch of stuff hauled off…we decided to reward ourselves with a day of Antiquing.

Pink Elephant Antique Mall

Went back to one of our favorite Antique Malls.

Pink ElephantThe Pink Elephant Antique Mall on interstate 55 in Illinois. Such fun.

twistee treat at Pink Elephant Antique MallWe had to have a Twistee Treat this trip…because it was open and selling ice cream. (SuperGuy slunk off and ate most of the ice cream cone while I was photographing…he doesn’t share well with others!)

I got some cute photography propos while we were browsing.

duaflex ii cameraAnother old camera. This one I’m going to use for through the lens photography where you shoot through the old camera with your new camera. Can’t wait to experiment.

old mint green rotary phone..and this mint green rotary phone that I just had. to. have. Not sure why…but I picture it in a future photo shoot…
