Why, yes, it did involve milk glass, why do you ask??

Isn’t it beautiful?? It’s kind of a cross between a pie plate and a platter or a serving plate.

It’s my favorite kind of milk glass, Fenton silver crest with the cute little wavy clear glass edges.

I was on the lookout for cute glass containers for flowers. Isn’t this one nice? I love the wavy, twisted glass at the throat of it. (yes, that water needs to be changed…)

And this darling little pitcher thingie. I love the little spout on it and the cute circle handle.

SuperGuy is getting pretty good at finding unusual glass containers for me to use for my flowers. He found this one!

I told you the Pink Elephant had cool stuff! Well, I think I should go bake some cookies to put on that milk glass plate, what do you think??

Pink Elephant Antique Mall

Yep, you saw it here first.

The Pink Elephant Antique Mall. Wonder how it got it’s name?? (also notice the elephant coming out of the wall in the far left corner…)

It’s off of Hwy 55 in Illinois. About an hour or so from us.

It has interesting “yard art”, now doesn’t it? Almost as interesting as the bull on Hwy 70.  Adding to undocumented stories on the internet…supposedly the owner of this ice cream stand called the manufacturer who told them they weren’t made anymore, but there were some abandoned ones. The owner went and picked up this abandoned one from somewhere out east and brought it back here. Maybe.

There’s the giant beach guy, supposedly moved from the Soulard Area in St. Louis. Maybe. Or maybe from somewhere in IL. Impressive, huh?

Then there is this Harley Davidson dude right outside too. Brought here from, um, Harley Davidson I’d presume. Maybe. :coffee2:

Look, you can see the edge of an old space ship there at the corner of the building too! A REAL one. 😉

The antique mall is inside an old school in Livingston, Illinois.  I love this shop. The people are helpful and friendly and there is a wide variety of things to buy er, look at okay, okay, to buy. I’ll show you some of our prizes tomorrow. Yes, milk glass was involved.

There you are, always willing to help. Spreading undocumented rumors on the net!

I found one! I found one!

by Kay~Kacey on 12/9/2008

Remember when I wrote this post …about my haunting antique stores for another hand? Well, not a REAL hand, of course. Don’t be silly! A porcelain hand.

I found another one!!

second porcelain hand

I found a second ceramic hand! I’ve been looking for a couple of years for this!! SuperGuy and I were out avoiding Christmas shopping antiquing. We found this hand!! It was marked NOT FOR SALE. :wallbash: SuperGuy called one of the workers over and they called the owner of the booth and she said she WOULD sell it to us. For $15. (I need a jump up and down in excitement smilie!) Someone is going to get a nice Christmas present this year!! :secret: Oh, big hint here…the Antique Malls are so not crowded in December like the Real Live Retail Malls are. So not as scary! 😯

As an aside (there nearly always is one, isn’t there?) WHY do people put things in a booth at antique malls and then mark them NOT FOR SALE? I mean, why bother?? It’s one of those things that annoys the heck out of me, way out of proportion to how much it should bother me. Kind of like people at the grocery store who leave their cart in the middle of the isle, stand beside it, and no one can get around them…that drives me insane too. Such a little thing. So annoying.

Sorry, I digressed a bit there. Anyway, it’s all in the hunt for antiquing! I love the hunt. Never knowing what you might find. You’ll never BELIEVE what we found for bed tables at The Love Nest  But I can’t show you yet, ’cause SuperGuy is prettying them up with some kind of magic Swedish oil or something. I don’t know, I just know he makes old furniture look beautiful!

Anyway, back to the hand…

I love the flowery, curly goodness of the details on these hands. I still want one more to give as a present though. Wonder if it will take me another 2 years or so?
