There is a place in Columbia, MO called The Big Tree.
It’s, well, a big tree. In the middle of nowhere. Out in the country a short drive out of Columbia. Everyone just knows of it as The Big Tree.
It’s legit, because it’s even listed on Google Maps!! :cool2: …as The Big Tree.

I finally got around to driving out there to see it in person. Who knew? (I went to school at Mizzou…and obviously the tree was there when I went to school, but it wasn’t until my boys went to school at Mizzou that I ever heard about The Big Tree.)
So there you have it. A bit of trivia about Columbia, MO. The Big Tree. Complete with photo.
Now I want to go out there at sunset and grab a photo of it!!!
As an aside…AUGUST??? How did that happen??? Where did the summer go???

So, you know the New Love Nest? Well, we back up to some guy’s land. Land that the city got rights to to put in a sewer system, but ending up stripping the land completely. :nono: Really who does that in a liberal, conserve-the-land type town??
So SuperGuy got permission from the guy who owns the land to reforest it. He ordered trees…well, slips of trees, from the Missouri Conservation Department. They came this week. 300 of them…
We planted them along the creek and all along the stripped out area. Unfortunately we still have about 150 more trees to plant… :mad2:
It was hard work!
This is the big path of stripped out land the city left in their wake… :wallbash: Yes, we have a lot of trees to plant…
This is lovely part of the sewer system that is above ground… Well, that is getting hidden with cedars…and I don’t mean slips of cedars, I mean real live hide-me-now cedars.
It really annoys me when developers/cities strip out way more than needed when they do a project…and leave it like that. Hopefully it will all look really nice…in about, what? 5-10 years??? (if we get the other 150 trees planted this week…)

You know how I love my pretty door in St. Louis, right?
We have pretty door at the New Love Nest too.
See the pretty glass? Of course, the first day we moved in I had SuperGuy pull the locks and go have them rekeyed.
He humored me and changed the locks out on the front door and the door in from the garage. I pays to humor me, I’m just sayin’
But then, at night, we discovered…much to our chagrin…that you can see right through all the pretty glass in the front door. :nono:
So we went to Home Depot and got these window cling thingies. They are a bit opaque, but still let the panes of the windows show through…and prevent people from seeing in the front door.
Well, SuperGuy put them up…but as you can see from the line near the top, we didn’t have quite enough. :wallbash: Ah, well, it will go onto our ever growing to do list to go get another roll and finish the job. SuperGuy also shampooed like half the carpets. He’ll finish up the other half soon. It’s a good thing he likes to putter around the house, ’cause I’m thinking there will be a lot of puttering to do!
