Mason Jars

flowers in mason jar

Arranging a bowl of flowers in the morning can give a sense of quiet in a crowded day – like writing a poem or saying a prayer.
~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

I’ve become quite taken with old Mason Jars. I love them for vases, candle holders…well, just about anything. I love the perfect shade of blue they are. I bought a whole boxful to use for candles outside in the courtyard…you know, if the sun ever shines again.

Not that I’m not addicted to other vases too…like milk glass, you know. But Mason Jars just really appeal to my sense of…I don’t know…my sense of blue??

Enjoy your weekend, my friends. Hope you have some sunshine in your days.

Color Me Red

by Kacey on 5/3/2011

red tulipsI took these photos a week or so ago before one of the big hail storms came through and stripped them bare.

I go out into the backyard every spring, just in awe of their beauty and snap their photographs, just as if I’ve never ever seen their brilliance before.

more red tulips

SuperGuy did put out some more bulbs last fall though. Very pretty this spring. You know, until the hail storms.

I wonder how many hours of my life I have spent taking photographs of flowers and processing them in photoshop…

Life in Focus – Pansies

by Kacey on 4/13/2011

colorful pansies

“The beauteous pansies rise In purple, gold, and blue,
With tints of rainbow hue
Mocking the sunset skies.”
~Thomas John Ouseley

I love pansies. They are such a nice splash of color in early spring and last into the beginning heat of summer. So many colors. So bright. Such a marvelous chase-away-the-end-of-winter flower.
