Life in Focus – Perseverance

Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained. ~ Marie Curie

I’ve always loved creative, artistic things. Dabbled in pin and ink drawings, I knit, I learned to weave but rarely do. I can spin a skein of yarn. I can bake a loaf of bread or bake a pie to compete with the best of them. I write. I blog. But this love of photography? That, THAT seems to be my true passion. It sings to me and haunts me and its siren call begs me to pick up my camera and go out and capture the world.

I work so hard, and constantly, at learning more about photography. Trying things. Experimenting. Trying some more. I read about it. Google about it. Join photography forums. I am wrapped in photography and I am very happy.

I regret it took me so long to really take up photography again after learning it right after college. I love sharing my photos with you, my friends. So share with me some of your gifts or talents. When did you discover them? Have you always known you had them?

One thing life has taught me: if you are interested, you never have to look for new interests. They come to you! When you are genuinely interested in one thing, it will always lead to something else. ~~Eleanor Roosevelt.

It’s strange how life leads us in new directions. I started writing a novel, and discovered the online world of bulletin boards (back in DOS days. GEnie online service) then email lists. From my writing I made great friends. Quite a few of us started blogging about our writing. Which led me to learning html, php, WordPress, web design. Which, eventually led me to expand my blog to writing about my life. Which led me to wanting to learn more about photography to put more pictures on my blog. I hadn’t shot much since college days. I moved to a DSLR camera. (best thing to ever happen to photography!)

The quote by Eleanor Roosevelt is so true. If you get interested in something, it leads to something else, and something else. I think I’ll never stop learning about new things. I love learning new things.

Do you have one of those trails of interests that led you to blogging? Or Photography? Or writing? Or something else? Want to share with us?

(Last chance to vote for March Photo of the Month. I’m going to close down voting on Sunday.)
