Stumbleupon for Photo Blog Hopping

Okay, you’ll thank me for this. Or maybe you won’t. I’ve been known to waste tons of time photo hopping with Stumbleupon.

(this photo inserted for no reason at all. Doesn’t pertain to this blog post. It’s totally superfluous. But it’s pretty, isn’t it??)

Where was I? So do you know about Stumbleupon? It’s many things. A social networking site. A toolbar that allows you to browse the web according to your interests. You thumbs up or thumbs down a page as it feeds them to you, depending on whether you like it and it interests you or not. The cool thing is? As you use it more, it gets to know more of what you like and don’t like and serves you up web pages more to your liking! Kind of like magic 😉

You install the toolbar, hit the Stumble button, and it serves you up a web page according the interests you marked when you signed up. I did up an easy guide to getting started with Stumbleupon over on our how to blog DandelionBlog.

Okay, now here’s the cool thing. If you want to Stumble only photos…which I love to do sometimes when I’m procrastinating when I have some spare time.

StumbleUpon toolbar
Here is the StumbleUpon toolbar. See where it says Channel? Then it has a World. Then what looks like a picture frame? Click on that picture frame icon, and it will Stumble only photos. I’ve found some really cool photo sites that way.

I also submit other people’s blog posts to StumbleUpon when I find a post with great photos, or a post that moves me, or has really good information about something. My mother always taught me to share.

So if you’re looking for a way to kill time discover some really cool website and photos, give StumbleUpon a try. You’ll thank me later…or not 😉

So go over to the article on DandelionBlog, read about StumbleUpon, how to use it, and how to download the Stumbleupon toolbar and have fun! If any of you try out StumbleUpon make sure to add me as a friend. And if you find other Stumblers with similar interests as yours, add them as your friend. You can then see what they are stumbling too.

Do any of you already use StumbleUpon? And if you do, have you found the Stumble Photos only button? Any other cool tricks that you know of? (you can see on my DandelionBlog post how I use it to research subjects for my books).
