New writing

by Kay~Kacey on 4/19/2005

So do you always have a germ of an idea simmering in the back of your mind? And know the next story that you’re going to write? I just mailed off a proposal…and while I have bits and pieces of stories started, and stories simmering…I’m wildly attracted to just sitting down and writing a scene. Whatever pops into my mind…and starting from there. Pick a hook, and just pound out a scene.

We did this once in critique group…just sit down and pound out X # of words of something totally new to you. Hm…a matter of fact, maybe I’ll take that scene and use that for a basis of my next story. (It was an amnesia story. I”m a sucker for those ever since See Jane Run by Joy Fielding.)

It’s so exciting to get one project finished and start on a new one! All the possibilities. Fun. Fun. :typing:

That’s actually the best part. The starting. Okay, there’s the finishing. Let’s not talk about middles…

I love the starting part. It’s fun and exciting. Kind of like a new relationship.

Best of luck on the proposal! I also love to start on a new book. It’s like visiting a new place (sorry for cliche), everything is so exciting!

you know, it IS like starting a new relationship or visiting and exploring a new place. Very fun.

Okay, the writing the last word IS fun too . And mailing it off.
