Open Your Blog to Comments

by Kay~Kacey on 4/24/2005

Okay, I don’t get it. Why do people blog everyday and not open their blog up to comments from their readers?? :wtf: Okay, I understand some blogs are really more content managers where people are posting news or whatever. I’m good with that.

But what about the blog where people pour their heart out, discuss their lives, their jobs, their thoughts. They just want to go on and on and hear themselves talk?? Blogs are about interaction. Discussion. I just don’t get the “closed to comments” blogs. Yes spam is something you have to deal with on a blog :mad2: , but closing your blog to discussion?? Why bother? And why would I keep coming back to your blog just to hear you go on and on?

Okay, we bring you back to your regular non ranting blogging….open to comments, of course

Hmm…I thought the whole point was to get comments, to read other people’s opinions, thoughts, etc. Quite often I will read something in somebody’s blog that I can commiserate with. Everyone likes to know they are not alone in their feelings and situations.

I hate it when blogs don’t allow comments!

I don’t know. I want to hear what people say. But maybe it’s like professors who won’t let their students comment. That drives me crazy.

I agree. I get aggravated when I notice a blog is closed to comments. Like you said, you just wanna ramble on into infinity and not really know if anyone out there cares? :shakehead:

Personally, I love it when I get comments, and it makes me want to keep blogging. But I think some people get distracted by the comments, so they don’t want them …

okay, I added some boxes behind the comments to hopefully make it easier to read…the comments won’t all look like one long block of text. Let me know if the black text doesn’t show up on the blue background for you.

Also, FOR AOL USERS ONLY I know I’m still fighting the spam Karma thingie for posts from AOL. Let me know if you don’t get those letters to type in to allow you to send your comment.

I love comments! I love to start a small discussion, to read what people think and to interact in general. I thought, that was the purpose of blogging, not only to ramble about yourself, right?

I love leaving comments on other romance oriented blogs and reading them on my own. I’m just getting into this blog world and I think it’s a great place to go.
