So, I’m curious. What time of day is your best writing time? Most creative?
I think my best time to write is about 9:00 am. Now I’m an early morning person and have been up for hours by then, but that seems to be when my mind kicks into creative gear. Unfortunately, most days of the week…I’m sitting at work at the pesky day job at 9:00 am. So I write in my non-prime time. Earlier morning. After work. Lunch times aren’t bad if I get enough time. I do write around 9:00 am on weekends and any days off. I get so much more done then.
So when is your most creative time, and do you get to use it? Or do you just have to grab time when you can find it?
I grab it when I can get it, but usually 7:30-8:30 p.m. (after the kids are in bed). During the summers, it’s mornings–6:30-9:30. Love that! :bath:
For my fiction, I work best late nights it seems. If m not too tired and the muses are cooperating I can knock out a couple of pages before I climb into bed.
Early morning is best for me, the earlier the better. I think it started when I went through a bout of insomnia and I was getting up at 4 or 5. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), most nights I can sleep now.
I guess around 5 a.m. Definitely before later afternoon. I get too sludgy tired by then. (And PS – I was MIA in Sept., so all blog reading came to a halt. Trying to catch up again!)
Honestly I don’t know anymore. I have spurts of inspiration while at work and will write handwritten pages. But my main writing time is from 8-10 in the evenings and then on the weekends. My most productive times are when I’m alone whenever those times are.
What is this Alone time thing, Teresa. Sounds very drool-worthy!
I like mornings – early, mid, late. But I’d like to retrain myself to do whatever I can whenever I can. A goal!
For me it’s about 10am on – before 10am, I’m pretty useless creatively. Can answer emails and commment on blogs , but if I try to write, nothing works. Think I need the caffeine to soak into my brain first :coffee2:
Right after I wake up, but it never happens. Must see kids off to school first, then get baby up and fed. It’s much later in the morning before I ever get around to sitting in front of computer.
My best writing time is definitely the morning. I start at 6:00 AM and if I didn’t have to go to work I’d write straight thru until around noon or 1 pm and peeter our around that time. Otherwise I have to stop at 8:30 and leave for work.
I am SO not a morning person. I work best after 8pm.
I get most of my writing done in the evenings, usually during commercial breaks while watching TV. 🙂
I’m not really sure. I used to think it was 9pm and after, but lately, I’m not getting a lot done then. I’m definitely not a morning person, but yet sometimes when I get up really early (because of insomnia, thank you) I can get a lot done. IF I open the file….
Early, early mornings. I write best then. Plus I have so much energy.
I don’t have one. It used to be at night but that doesn’t seem to factor in anymore.
Mornings to early afternoon are best for me, but when I’m under deadline and late, I can do anytime. But I don’t like it. :shakehead:
Depends. On the weekends, I can write anytime – usually in the afternoon, though. On weekdays, it’s usually after 7 p.m. but it depends on the evening’s activities and whether or not hubb is in the garage or in the house. If he’s in the house, I REALLY don’t get anything done!!!
I’ve gone back to writing at night. Late at night. Like, from 11pm to 2am or so seems to be working great for me right now, so I’m not going to argue with it.
