Taking the Month Off

by Kay~Kacey on 12/1/2005

I’ve decided to give myself a month off of writing. My life has just been unbelievably crazy busy and I’m stressing myself out. There is the pesky day job…which gets even crazier with year end stuff. Christmas and all that involves. I like to knit some of the presents I give…and I’ve really cut back on that, but I’m still doing some. Mainly because knitting keeps me sane. Then, (don’t tell my dad) :secret: we’re pulling off a surprise 80th birthday party for him 2 days after Christmas. The whole family will be in town for Christmas and the party.

My college boys will be home, and I miss them. I want to spend as much time with them as possible. My stepsons with be in for like 10 days too. So I’ll do lots of family things and mom things and bake cookies that they will decorate all nasty and obscene and stuff.

So I decided to give myself a writing holiday this month. Oh, I’m sure I’ll still plot in the bathtub :bath: and jot down notes. But I’m not really going to hit it hard until January when the holidays are over.

I’ll keep blog hopping though, to keep up with what everyone is up too. Email me anytime, or use the contact form if you think I’m ignoring you  or if you have any great, exciting news. (like Rene let me know there are Rudolph slippers at Kohl’s…but are they at the one near me??? NO, of course not!!)

Hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season. I’ll be reading your blogs, and I’ll be back blogging at the new year…and writing my butt off. (I wish that would really work ! 🙄 )

Another knitter! Yay! I know a lot of people taking this month off. I had thought of doing that as well but I was too excited to get to work on new stuff that I couldn’t wait. With the pressure of the GH deadline off my shoulders and my previous manuscript ready to be sent out to HQN I am feeling a huge sigh of relief.

Kacey, have a great month with the holiday preparing and celebrating! And fresh up that muse for January in the tub. :bath: 😆

I love this time of year, too.

Sometimes you need the break! Take it easy. Do a little :bath::beer::book: So you don’t :crazy2:.
Oh and keep on knitting!!

Enjoy your time off!

I just learned how to knit just before Thanksgiving and I’ve become obsessed. Of course I’m not very good at it yet.

Your life makes me want a nap just from reading about it. 🙂

Kacey, I’m glad you blogged – I was beginning to worry!

Yes, this is the perfect time of year to take the month off. There’s so much going on that it’s rare for people to actually enjoy the holidays instead of stressing out about them.

Oddly for me, though, I LOVE to write during this season. I feel more energized. I know, I know. I’m weird. :crazy2:

Taking the month off sounds like a great idea. Wish I could. Things will slow down considerably, but I’ll still have to write. My dad turns 80 this year too. His birthday is on Saturday.

thanks for all the support. I was so stressed so I just went down the list of what can I do to cut back on the stress. I see no point in having the whole family in town…which hasn’t happened for over 5 years I think…and me being so stressed that I can’t enjoy it.

though you know how it goes. Once you say you can’t write…all these ideas pop into your head. I’m only letting myself jot notes. Nothing else. I figure I’ll be raring to go by January.

And Tess gets the award for best use of smilies

I thought of you as I watched Rudolph with my boys last night…until I fell asleep. 😯

Enjoy your time off! Hope you come back rearing to go! :cool2:

Enjoy the time off and I expect you to be hitting those proposals hard, :mad2: come the new year!

Enjoy your month off from writing! You’ll be brimming with ideas come January, I’ll bet!

I can’t believe it’s December already.:wallbash:

I missed you. Glad you’re back. Take a break…as my 93 year old uncle always tells me, “Stop and smell the grass.”

:book: ENJOY that time off. Your dad’s party sounds great. Not a knitter here – ambidextrous people have a difficult time picking up anything new to do with their hands – lol – but wanna try it some time. I’m gonna learn how to braid rugs for my winter handiwork.

See you after your time off.
