No Excuses November

by Kay~Kacey on 11/5/2006

That’s write. Name your month time. No. Excuses. November.

Just do it!

In other writing news, I heard back from an editor who sent back my manuscript but will look at it again if I can beef up the conflict. So I’ve been busy with that. :crazy2: Interesting though, I was going back through my blog and came across this entry from right before I mailed this submission.

This is what I said before :

I was talking to my CP’s about this story too. I usually have BIG GMC. Here it is. Here it is again. Here, let me :mad2: this again. But this story is more slice of life. It still has the goal, motivation, conflict…but it’s more gmc than GMC. It’s like what happens to these two families in the week where all these secrets are revealed and how they deal with it. Different than I’ve written before. We’ll have to see how well it’s received …

So I guess, instinctively, I knew the conflict needed to be stronger. I do think the story is good, the external conflict is good, but the internal conflict is weak. It’s not part of the black moment. So I’m working on fixing that now.

As another aside…why, oh why, do I find so many typos when I read through a manuscript that I’ve already sent to an editor??? :wallbash:

You have our friend Murphy (and his damn law) to thank for that.

I find so many typos after the fact. I sent a roleplay response to my partner last night, and after I sat there reading it I found three huge typos, two on the first paragraph! :wallbash:

Go, Kacey, go! You can pound this manuscript into shape. :mad2: More than anything else, believe in yourself. Trust your gut instincts. Don’t send it back until it ROCKS and you think: Oh God, that’s good!! :typing:

Good luck with those revisions! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! And I know exactly what you mean about the typos!
