Really, do you think this is normal? For a twenty-something male to have an apartment that looks this nice?
I had an old plaid couch and milk crates in my first apartment. This is The Photography One’s apartment. We’re over in Columbia at his apartment this week. SuperGuy works over here two days a week, twice a month. So he, or we, come over and stay at The Photography One’s apartment.
I’m thinking his girlfriend had a bit to do with picking out this pretty dining room table, though the Ansel Adam photograph you can see in the mirror, I’m sure was picked out by my son.
His shoes neatly placed by his apartment door. (for the record, they are still left in the middle of the family room floor when he comes home…)
MY kitchen never looks this clean!
He does have some guy decorations though. His wake board, and a skim board on the ledge above the kitchen.
Okay, now this is male. A massive TV and stereo and Xbox console. Yep, that’s very male.
So, SuperGuy’s work load has increase over here so that he’ll be coming to Columbia more often. So….get this…starting in July we’ll be sharing a larger apartment over here with The Photography One for when SuperGuy comes to town to work. How many of you have moved in with your kids??? It will probably be about 6-8 nights a month, depending on SuperGuy’s work load. Luckily The Impish One will be over here at college starting in the fall. So I should be able to bug, keep an eye, visit with him too.
The Photography One likes to shock and amuse people by telling them his mommy is moving in with him this summer. People who don’t know us are appalled. His friends who do know us are excited….see, SuperGuy cooks for everyone when he’s over here. 🙂
I’m a bit worried though…because our shared apartment over here might look nicer than our house back home…
I haven’t moved in with my kids. But my parents and inlaws have lived temporarily with us. My house has never been that clean. I don’t have time to clean. Too busy with life. Kudos to the kids for keeping clean and sharing!
That apartment is spectacular! You trained him well, mama! Can’t wait for the reports from Summer Camp!
No, this is not normal! His place puts my house to shame (especially in the area of cleanliness).
His kitchen is amazing… does he cook? I went through a stage when I first got married and moved out a the family home of 2 parents, 2 grandparents and 7 other kids.
I was all OCD about everything for a while, just because it was so cool to have so much space to myself for the first time. That didn’t last long, it was exhausting! I am neat, but not nuts!
Wow — very nice for a man’s space : ]
I love that couch! It looks so comfortable!
Surprisingly, both of my sons places are neat and cool like this one. So it’s another thing we have in common, isn’t it?
Nice place!
Wow I’m impressed! I hope that is normal for kids nowadays… somehow I can’t imagine my kids having that nice of apartments when they move out.
My first place never looked that nice, either. Clean but I had ratty furniture as I couldn’t afford anything else. Wait-a-minute… I still have ratty furniture because I can’t afford nice stuff. Ah-well.
I think that’s neater than my house. Please tell me he cleaned up for the photos!
Our first place wasn’t even that clean, and we didn’t have much furniture!
But LOL on the “man” corner!
Wow! That’s a great apartment!
Ohhhh Kacey! I am so envious of your living arrangements! I’d give anything to “have” to spend a week of every month in Columbia! As I’m sure you know, there’s so much to do and see in and around there.
You MUST go to the farmer’s market! It’s so much better than anything we have out here it’s just ridiculous! The Saturday market is the biggest. http://www.columbiafarmersmarket.org/
Give my home town a big hug for me!

P. S. My son is a total slob at home. His college apartment looked very much like your sons. I nearly fainted the first time I saw it!
I personally think being neat is something you’re either born with or not. I know slobs who had meticulously neat parents, and I have a painfully neat cousin whose mother took (still does) slob-dom to epic proportions. And I don’t think it’s rebellion, because there are lots of people who do exactly what their parents do.
Oops! Sorry! I tend to go on bit. 😳
Wow, that is pretty amazing! Where are the old pizza boxes? Where are the empty bottles of Mountain Dew and Twinkies wrappers?
I’m a ways from having my kids away from home. I can picture my son having a tidy apartment…however I don’t picture him ever moving out. I think he’ll still be living at home when he’s 40.
I am definitely shocked that the apartment belongs to a male except for the big T.V., etc.
My sons would never had a place so well-kept. It wasn’t that I didn’t try to instill neatness. If you knew their father, you would know it was genetic. LOL
Holy Cow! Ya know, when I heard you are going to be in Columbia, I was getting ready to type a comment telling you that I’m only about 2 hours away from Columbia… but, as I saw the pics of that apartment, I thought to myself “No WAY could I let her see THIS rat hole” 😉
That apartment blows my mind.
