Memory Problems

by Kay~Kacey on 11/7/2008

Oh. My. Gosh. So we got home from our vacation and I did the usual. Laundry, pay bills, sort through things and put them away. You know the routine. Then I decided I wanted to take some photos. No surprise there, right?

But I wanted to use my best lens. My canon 7-200mm f4 L lens. Love that baby!

So I go to look for the lens. Can’t find it. It’s not in my big camera case that I left at home. Not in my office. Then I vaguely remember “hiding” it. :crazy2: I do that sometimes in my rush to leave. Hide some jewelry, my backup disk for my computer, the backup thumb drives. Had I hidden my lens?

Where the HECK had I hid it? I’ve done some silly things…like wearing shoes that don’t match… I blame it on the fact I always seem to be doing several things at once. You know, like most females. So sometimes I don’t give quite the concentration to the task at hand. 🙄

So I tore my bedroom apart. Drawer by drawer, shelf by shelf, bag by bag. Nothing. By then I’m panicked. What the heck am I going to tell SuperGuy? (well, I WASN’T going to tell him, that’s for sure!! I’d NEVER hear the end of it!).

Anyway I look in my closet again. And again. Finally I see that this tupperware bin of old socks (don’t ask) is out of place. I look in there and HOORAY, there is my lens!! I sure don’t remember putting it in there…at all. 🙄

But my lens and I are reunited. All is right in my little universe. But the next time we vacation? I’m so writing down a list of where I stash stuff and giving the list to my sister…

I love the lens on my camera, too! My camera is an old camera that only uses film, and my hubby bought me a beautiful zoom lens one year that is fabulous.
The memory thing- it sucks doesn’t it???

Been there, done it. I still can’t find a pair of earrings from last year… :cursing:

Oh! I blame my memory problems on doing too many things at once also! You’re not alone. So glad you and your lens were reunited!

I cleaned my fridge last weekend (way overdue), and I found my long lost sterling silver hoop earring. Yes, in the fridge … under the meat drawer. I can’t figure out that one, but I don’t think I put it there!

Boy can I relate to your story! We are leaving on a cruise in less than 2 months. While discussing it, Doughboy asked me if I knew the whereabouts of my passport. My reply was, “Of course I do – it’s right in my backpack along with my iPod. It’s in our closet”. So I go to the closet to make my point, and my backpack was gone. I panicked for 2 weeks as I turned our house upside down. I was at the point where I was going to have to show up in person for a new passport. when I thought of one more place I hadn’t searched – my scraproom. There in the corner of my scrap closet was my backpack. I was sooooo excited to find it! It’s in a new safe place now…some where…oh, dear!

Oh, I have done this dozens of times. You would be surprised that even though we are in a RV with limited space, i still manage to misplace things.
As for the different shoes, I am notorious for doing this. Back when I was working, when I found shoes that I liked, I would buy them in several colors. You guessed it! I would be out in public or perhaps even at a customer with two different shoes on. It is very embarrassing!
Glad you found your lens!!!

teehee.

Glad you found the lens. If you had time to make a list, where would you hide the list?

Kacey November 7, 2008 at 11:59 am

Mental Mama…hope you find your earrings!

Amy…you found your earring in the fridge??

I’m just glad I found my lens. I’m going to have to quit multi tasking so much…

So what’s with the tupperware bin of old socks? 🙂

cgreno November 7, 2008 at 12:16 pm

oh, “special places”. Sometimes finding the “special places” that hold treasure can be very productive.
Like finding a $100 bill in the bobin drawer of the sewing maching, what year did I do that?…..now if I could just find the “special place” I hid my Gram’s wedding ring……, will check old sock tupperware today…..

I was totally going to say that I flew to your house while you were on vacation and stole the darn thing because I was so jealous 😆 Glad you found it!

Tupperware full of old socks, hmmm?

I spent parts of August and September looking in every nook and cranny of my home/garage/yard for my spare camera. The one that is beat up, but goes with me everywhere and I know how to operate its every function. Best I can figure, I set it on the trunk of my hubbie’s car and he drove off with it. Mabye some kid found it on our road, maybe it is in pieces somewhere. While I am totally bummed, I congratulate you on being organized.

Been there…done that, only I hid jewelry.

OMG. I think it’s the onset of oldtimers disease. I’ve had it for years.

I still have a blouse in my closet that I absolutely do not remember buying. I think I was out with friends and must have had one of those liquid lunches. You know the kind. And then we went shopping. Oy. :lips:

Totally sounds like something I would do…

I am beginning to realize that my memory is not all it should be. I have actually started to learn that I need to give a lot more conscious thought to where I am putting things. When I remember to that is :crazy2:

Too funny! I do that all the time!
