Random thoughts on 2009

by Kay~Kacey on 1/2/2009

After my very deep thoughts for 2009 from yesterday’s posts… 🙄 I thought I’d share with you some random thoughts I do have for the new year. 2008 was a hard year for me. 2009 is going to be much better. A lot of it is in the mindset. I know that.

These are NOT resolutions as much as just my random (very random) thoughts on 2009–

This year I want to try out more new things. Not be so set in my ways.

I want to spend more time enjoying the boy noise when everyone is home, and less time worrying about what to feed them and the mess that’s created in the wake of five boys.

I want to slow down. Enjoy. Take walks. Actually see what’s around me.

I mean, when is the last time *I* flew a kite?? I need to have more mindless fun. Lots more.

I want to declutter the house and find good homes for the clothes and STUFF that we have crammed into this house.

give away clothes

Of course I want to work on my photography. Both the taking of the pictures and the processing of the photos. And, of course, I want to continue on with my blogging. Is it wrong to be in love with your blog???

I want quiet time. Time to just be and filter out the stress and worry of life. Or, more realistically, I want to figure out a way to handle the stress better.

I think my thoughts for 2009 can be wrapped up in one of my favorite quotes…

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast – you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.”
~Eddie Cantor

How about you? Do you have some random thoughts on 2009 that you’d like to share with us?

I want all the things you want and more.
Mostly, I want a little more organization.
I have always been an organized person. But this past year, I have flown by the seat of my pants, for reasons I can’t explain.
Not that I mind dropping things and taking off at the last minute. Love the excitement.
But EVERY DAY of my life? Maddening! Trying to keep up with the daily chores.
Have a great year, Kasey!

Great random thoughts — embracing joy and clearing space for it are perfect ways to greet 2009. Thanks for the inspiration.

I think the decluttering will help with the organization. It’s hard to be organized with stuff just positively everywhere.

In 2009 I truly want to “love what I have” and stop mindless consumption. and retail therapy.
Oh, and not stab anyone. For the past 10 years i have made that resolution, so far, so good, However, aging and tolerance are not going hand in hand…..who knew? Here is to a puncture free 2009!

I’m with you on slowing down and decluttering. I need to watch more TV … seriously!

Simplicity! That is my motto for this year. It wraps up all that you said here. I’ve started already by purging tons of papers we no longer need, bagging up “stuff” we no longer need for the thrift shop, and organizing my mind for the year to come!

Slowing down and decluttering are good companion goals. It’s tough to slow down in a speeding world; good luck! I have confidence that you’ll do it.

I want to venture out more by myself (which I hate to do)

Umm…no random thoughts. I find I have to take one day at a time. Anything else and I’m doomed to disappointment.

A new year is like a clean new slate, isn’t it? A time to reflect, to learn something new, to reassess. This year, I’m planning on just trying to make it through life. Last year ended up being so difficult. With my husband’s illness and life expectancy so up in the air, it’s hard to think of anything but just trying to get through it, step by step.
Thanks for being here. I enjoy stopping by daily!

Decluttering seems to be a theme for a lot of us. And a good one at that.

Just glad I’ve gotten to know you and your blog – it’s been such fun dropping by and reading what you have to blog about!

Here’s to a good 2009, my friend, a good 2009!
