Kitchen Remodel 101

by Kay~Kacey on 4/2/2009

There should be a course you take in college. Kitchen Remodeling 101. A class in which you memorize rules. Hard and fast rules.

Rule One: Do not rip up a kitchen during college son’s spring break. They aren’t really that interested in helping. They have places to party and friends to play with. Oh, and spring breaks end and the kids go back to college. Who knew?? :wallbash:

Rule Two: Don’t expect to, you know, cook or eat in said kitchen while remodeling is going on.

Rule Three: Even flowers in the kitchen will not disguise the chaos.

So SuperGuy has a few days off this week. Finally. And as God as my witness, I’ll never go hungry again! I mean, the kitchen cabinets WILL be finished and doors put back up by Sunday. SuperGuy promises. We’re going to work and work on it. I’m so over having a messed up kitchen.

So, inbetween painting and hanging the doors back up. Oh, and washing all the things in the cabinets because the kitties thought that all those open cabinets were their own special playground.. –in between all that I’ll work on the Photo of the Month Contest. I’m planning on having it posted on Monday.

Wish me luck on the remodeling. I hope SuperGuy and I are still speaking by the end of the weekend… 😉

The flowers, fruits, and wine bottles do add a nice touch!

I see you are a kitchen magnet magnet, too! :]

I believe I said this when you started: Better you than me. I’ve done this waaaay too many times now. Never again. But good luck! It’s going to be great! :believe:

Good luck on the remodel – I’m hoping to tackle a few small remodel jobs in my kitchen come Fall, just floors and backsplash. Thankfully J is very handy and my BIL is a carpenter so I have built in help!

Got my fingers crossed for you that Super Guy gets it finished. I done my kitchen a few years back completely by myself. It took me three weeks of working almost constantly on it. The results were worth it, but I’ll never do it alone again.

It will all be worth it. Kitchen remodeling is so stressful. Good thoughts coming your way.

Just keep thinking how nice it will look when it is all finished. And a liberal dose of Dunkin Donuts munchkins will make almost anything look better… 😉

It looks like a good start! Just keep your eye on the prize and say over and over to yourself…This is gonna be GREAT! This is gonna be GREAT! Keep plugging away and eventually it’ll be done! It only took my husband and I 7 years to finish our remodeling project!
