Overhead View

by Kay~Kacey on 4/14/2009

So have you ever gone to Google Maps and done a satellite view of your house? Type in your address on Google Maps and then click on the satellite view?

See, there I am by the red arrow? See all the luscious woods that I back up too?

Okay, confess, have you ever done this with someone you know? A blogging friend? Old boyfriend? Wondering what it looks like where they live? An old house you used to live in? Your grandma’s house? You can confess here to us…

Okay, you’re going to tell me that I’m the only one…

I find the internet fascinating…it has totally changed our world, hasn’t it?

I lived for the Encylopedia Brittanica as a child ~ all the information about EVERYTHING in the whole wide world, at my fingertips. :book:

The Internet? Does it get any better than that? We lovingly refer to the www. as “The Oracle”. I can, and do, spend massive amounts of time tripping through the world via “The Oracle”. :typing: As soon as Alex Trebek finds me, I know I will win on Jeopardy! :useyourhead:

HaHaHa! No, you are NOT the only one who’s sought out the homes of old beaus and such. I admit it!

Have you done the street view of your neighborhood? My son’s Jeep is in the driveway on our street view, which was done about two years ago. It’s scary, though, to think if just how little privacy we have in this age of the internet.

I have google mapped everyone I know if I haven’t been to their house!! LOL!! But it is scary, the little amount of privacy we have……

I’ve done it a couple of times with the places we’ve lived and it’s pretty interesting. Our place now is blurry because it’s on a hill. Weird-looking, actually.

Yes, I have google mapped my house, my old house, my grandma’s….
It is fascinating. But I’m with CindyP, it is scary, too.

I have never looked at other’s houses except my own and my neighbors. But now that you mention it, it sounds like fun for a rainy day :woot: I can’t post my own on here as I have an old abusive boyfriend that stalks my blog EVERY. DAY. I really don’t want to point him in the right direction to my house!

We did this recently to show my in-laws their old neighborhood. They were amazed and thrilled. It’s a little creepy though, to think that anyone can view your house. The internet has good and bad sides, just like anything else, I guess…

Mary

Guilty.

Kelly Boyce April 14, 2009 at 10:21 am

I’ll have to try that!

Amanda Zika April 14, 2009 at 10:31 am

LOL! I have done this, maybe more than once or twice 🙂

annbb April 14, 2009 at 11:10 am

Yup – do this all the time. The only home I’m not able to find (I can scroll and find it, but not by street address) is my parents! Imagine that!

Flea April 14, 2009 at 1:12 pm

I’ve done this with y current and past homes, but not in a stalker fashion. You can betcher bottom dollar I will, though. 😉

Tori Lennox April 14, 2009 at 2:03 pm

Man, I’m behind the times. I’ve only searched my own house. Must start looking for other people too. *g*

I check out our current home, and our “old” home, that we lived in for 30 years.
