So, as you know, SuperGuy and I usually vacation in September. Just the two of us. It’s a slower time of year for him.
So…we were going to go to Gulf Shores and rent a house on the beach. Actually, the Fort Morgan Peninsula. Quiet. Out of the way. Yeah, that’s not looking so good, now is it? And SuperGuy couldn’t fish there. What I’m really surprised is that places are still asking top dollar for places there. I don’t get it.
So we went to The Outer Banks last year. Liked it, but what I really didn’t like was not being able to see the shoreline. I love to watch the waves crash on the beach. But there are dunes everywhere that block the shoreline. You can’t even see the ocean when you drive along the coast. We couldn’t even see the waves break from the 3rd floor balcony of the house we rented. Oh, we had a great time, it was really reasonable, but now we’re looking for something new. We love to drive. We love sleepy little not much to do places. Right on the beach.
Do you have any suggestions? Especially not on the gulf coast. We’re looking into St. Augustine, and some of the South Carolina beaches. Do you have any suggestions?? Of course you do! Help us!
Nothing better than the Delaware beaches…
Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where I live. It’s heaven on earth!
You will love St. Augustine! I am looking at homes there;)
Um… Disney? Oh wait, that’s me. Nantucket or something like it, although it could be getting slightly chilly. Nah, I vote for Estes Park…
Lake of the Woods in Minnesota!

Kenosha, Wisconsin…on Lake Michigan. Fabulous beach town…lots of fishin, or head up to Door County…beautiful area, right on the lake.
Sigh, you guys, I want *ocean waves*. I need them. I crave them.

I’m just sayin’.
And it looks like you can see the ocean waves from your little romantic place.
Bald Head Is, NC
We spent a week at Harbor Island, SC, near Beaufort. Beaufort is Charleston/Savannah but smaller, less touristy, and much quieter. Home to lots of “southern” movies.
Don’t go if you want to *swim* in ocean! Gigantic tides that make for huge beaches, but a long walk to get your toes wet. (Unless you like tidal pools.)
On second thought: never mind. No crashing waves (just re-read your post.)
:wallbash:
St Augustine or Amelia Island are great!
Folly Beach, South Carolina is what you are looking for!! Its small and quaint and only about 20 minutes from Charleston, SC. Great food, low-key and beautiful. Trust me. I know these things. I am a born-and-bred South Carolinian and this is a great beach!
P.S. I’m brand new to your blog and thinking of starting one myself. Any advice?
