Peace and Quiet

Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content. ~ Helen Keller

It is very quiet in my house now. The boys are gone. The girls are gone. I waver between falling face first in the quiet and reveling in it…and wanting to turn on the music and blare some life and noise into my home. I loved every minute of having the house bursting to the seams with people and laughter. I’m strangely soothed and annoyed by the quiet that surrounds me now. Do you ever feel that way?

I guess I just need to give myself a little adjustment time. Or maybe I’m just a TAD overly emotional this week.

If you’ve never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom. ~Terri Guillemets

I love spring! It warms my heart and makes me happy and puts me in a perpetually good mood! I could just sit out in my backyard all day and stare at the flowers, the woods, the birds. I have conquered another winter, and I am content.

Life in Focus – Perseverance

Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained. ~ Marie Curie

I’ve always loved creative, artistic things. Dabbled in pin and ink drawings, I knit, I learned to weave but rarely do. I can spin a skein of yarn. I can bake a loaf of bread or bake a pie to compete with the best of them. I write. I blog. But this love of photography? That, THAT seems to be my true passion. It sings to me and haunts me and its siren call begs me to pick up my camera and go out and capture the world.

I work so hard, and constantly, at learning more about photography. Trying things. Experimenting. Trying some more. I read about it. Google about it. Join photography forums. I am wrapped in photography and I am very happy.

I regret it took me so long to really take up photography again after learning it right after college. I love sharing my photos with you, my friends. So share with me some of your gifts or talents. When did you discover them? Have you always known you had them?
