What Speaks to your Heart?

by Kay~Kacey on 12/20/2010

Do you ever take a photo that just pulls at you? That talks to you? That tugs at your heart. One that you take, process and just fall in love with it? This is one of those photos for me.

female cardinal in the snow

I love the colors. The snow. The “look” on her face. I look at it, and can’t believe I-yes, me- captured that moment. I love photography. I’m just sayin’. I’m so glad that photography found me.

Why did it take me so long to fall in love with photography??

What have you found that calls to you and speaks to your heart?

…of my birds in snow pics yet? Remember when we were trying to decide what this bird was? We decided it was an immature Red Winged Black Bird. Well look! He brought his friends!

Red winged blackbirdYep, that looks like a Red Winged Blackbird to me! I’ve never seen them around here before!

Boys will be Boys

Now, I always tell my boys, no wrestling in the house. They listen to me. Mostly…

bird fights at the bird feederI guess I’m going to have to make up house rules for the bird feeder. No fighting at the feeder. See this male Cardinal? He thought he was all that.

Male cardinal fighting with small bird He decided to go after this sparrow…(I think that’s some kind of sparrowish bird? I’m not very good with my small brown birds.) But the little guy? He held his own!

cardinal and sparrowHa, the male cardinal, the bully, he got put in his place by the sparrow, and sheepishly climbed back to the other side of the feeder. See? You shouldn’t pick on the little guys!

fighting birds The cardinal wasn’t the only bird out there fighting. The cowbird and a red winged black bird went after each other too. Notice the little guy is still hanging in there!

The moral of the story? Never underestimate the little guy! The end.
