New House Construction Update

by Kay~Kacey on 9/17/2012

We just got back from a short vacation in Estes Park with my sister and brother-in-law…and the first thing we did when we got back is go out to see the new house, of course. Since so many people have bugged me for new photos of the progress–you know who you are… 😉  I thought I’d update with construction photos before I show vacation photos.

So they got some of the tile work finished while we were gone…along with the trim around the fireplace and the mantel. Isn’t it pretty??

The kitchen cabinets are in and part of the countertop. We’re having a cherry countertop made for the island. SuperGuy was going to make it, but he ran out of time. We picked out some old fashioned glass for that glass front cabinet. The kind with blips and a few bubbles in it.

Next up? My beloved pantry! Isn’t it great?? Look at all that storage space. It has a small counter in it too (covered with cardboard in this photo) for our coffee maker, toaster, etc. We only had them build in one side of the pantry for now. I want to live in the house for a bit, before we figure out what to do with the other side and what we want to store in there. So SuperGuy will build out the other side for me.

Here you can see that the pantry is right off the kitchen. Sigh. A big pantry, can it get any better than that??

They trimmed out around the windows too. Not painted yet, and the crown moulding should go up this week, but it looks so pretty!

They tiled around my jetted tub and our master bath shower. So nice!!tile around bathtub

Oh, and let me show off my interior doors. I just love them. Different than the normal 4 or 6 white panel doors. The double doors…interior doors

…and the single door.  I just love the beadb0ard appearance and the rounded top panel. They’ll get painted this next week…or the next. Yay!

Okay, there is the new house construction update! I’m getting excited. It keeps getting closer and closer to completion! We’re going to have a moving party…anyone want to come to it?? They’ll be lots of boxes and furniture…and beer 😉

Longs Peak

by Kay~Kacey on 9/15/2012

We were on vacation for a few days last week…like a very few…but I thought I’d post a quick mountain photo just because. Michael & Karl…this one’s for you. May  you finally make it up to the top of Longs Peak one of these days…

I’ll be back with more photos of the fun we had in Estes Park, and look for new construction updates on Monday!

Quiet Time

by Kay~Kacey on 9/6/2012

Sometimes the only way to get through a day is to take a quiet break. A tea break is one of my quiet times of choice.

tea time

Even better since I can use one of my grandmother’s antique teacups. Makes me smile every time I use it. Oh, and the teaspoon? That was from my grandmother’s everyday set. I rescued it from my mother’s basement. I just love things like that. Things that link me to my ancestors. Think how many times my grandparents and my mom used that teaspoon. How many times I did as a child. But you know I’m kind of an antiques nut anyway, don’t you?

Anyway…what do you do when you need to take a short break? What’s your quiet time of choice?

(I should have more house construction photos to show soon! Cabinets are in! Some of the flooring! Some of the trim! It’s really starting to look like a real live house.)
