The Making of a Garden

by Kay~Kacey on 4/1/2014

I’m finally going to get my garden and I am SO excited!!

Here is SuperGuy playing working with his tractor. He rode the tractor all day…I raked gravel in place all day. I cannot move…

We’re going to do raised bed gardens with gravel pathways between the beds. The garden is in a clay-mucky-area. We’re adding 12 inch boards on top of these base boards.

I’m driving SuperGuy a bit nuts. I want to do organic. Everything organic. So we’re using cedar $ boards instead of treated pine.

Luckily, SuperGuy thought to have the builder put in a spigot up by where we wanted the garden. Nice, close water! (And I think the spigot looks cute, too!)

Oh, here is one of the gardeners 😉 I had on muck boots, but changed to those classy crocs… Don’t you love my hat?? I do!

We’re making 4 4×8 beds, and 2 4×4 higher beds. Then, once the fence is in, we’ll have 18 inch beds all along the fence on the inside.

I’ll be sure to keep you updated on our progress. After all this work, I hope we’re successful gardeners!

I’m so jealous of your raised beds, Kacey! I was looking at the ones in Home Depot last year – the ones where instead of buying lumber they’re already notched and ready to put together or something. But I never got around to buying them, and we keep saying we’re going to sell the house, but it looks like such a great plan.

Way, way too much work. However, I’m sure I will enjoy the fresh vegetables when I come to visit!
