Call it a Day

by Kay~Kacey on 4/10/2008

Ever have one of those days? Or weeks? When it’s just best to call it a day?

sunset

While none of these are big traumas (at all), sometimes the constant pitter patter of the little stuff drives me nuts. I’m sure my feeling this way has nothing to do with:

1) Doing taxes
2) My parents are home and their computer just will not work. Phone calls. Trips over there. :mad2: (Get a Mac!)
3) Taxes
4) Trip across the state tomorrow to get SuperGuy’s Aunt’s house ready to sell. If that project ever ends, bless her heart. We’ve been doing this for 6 months or so. But did I mention we’re supposed to have pounding rain and tornadoes all day tomorrow for the drive? :wallbash:
5) Did I mention taxes?
6) Some of my blogging buddies voted for me to keep the ground cover! 😯

One of those weeks when things just don’t turn out quite how you expected?

not quite right

Me: “Geeky One, where is your W2?”
Geeky One (with glazed looked in his eyes): “What???”
Me: “Your W2, so I can do up your taxes.”
Geeky One: “I don’t have it, don’t you have it?”
Me (patiently, kind of): “No. I wouldn’t be asking you for it if I had it.”
—as an aside, this is SO male, isn’t it??
Geeky One: “No clue.” (he looks at me expectantly)
Me: “Well, you’ll need to go ask for a copy.”
Geeky One: “Oh. OK.”

Two days later:
Me sending text message: W2 !!
Geeky One: ya 2morrow 4sure

(Or something like that. The boys try to spell things out better for me when they text. They think I can’t figure out that shorthand stuff. Well, I can!! Well, sometimes. Well, I admit to texting them back sometimes and saying “huh?”)

:wallbash: There are disadvantages to being a degreed accountant, I’ll tell you what! I do way too many people’s taxes and field way to many phone calls the week before taxes are due!

So I’m thinking if I just have a big old teeny tiny 😉 glass of wine, I can have a bit of an attitude adjustment!

pansies

I know my pitter patter of annoyances will end by April 15th, so what with that knowledge and my fortifying beverage, I should do fine. If the tornadoes don’t get us. So what do you do when you hit a week like this? How do you turn it around?

Amy April 10, 2008 at 6:53 am

I’ve had a lot of those days recently! I haven’t felt too swell myself this week, as I continue to balance my ill father (out of state), mono man, my job, and the “newness” of being a grandmother. Oh, yes, and I mailed a check to the IRS the other day. That hurt. Yep, I can identify with you, Kacey. I hope your drive is tornado free!

I think I have finally learned, I can’t turn it around. I just keep trudging along, things eventually go away. It’s all good!

As far as taxes go….this time drives me crazy. Hubby does our taxes and he waits till the last minute…I mean the very last minute. One year, he finished them and had me sign them at 11: 48pm (On the 14th) and then had me go with him to race to the PO spot to mail them. :cursing:
As far as annoying times…I tend to not try to recall them. 🙂
Hope things go well and the tornadoes stay away!

I have days like that, they’re called Mondays ! And yes, wine is the only cure. 🙂 Please be careful driving through all that weather, and here’s to the other side of April 15th.

More fortifying beverages….

Melissa Marsh April 10, 2008 at 9:59 am

I’m just waiting for one more form for our taxes (because hubby lost the first one and I refuse to go digging for it, so we requested a new one) and then I can press “send” and be done with that. Well, except for the stupid PAYMENTS. :cursing:

Anyway. How do I turn a day or a week around? Chocolate. A good movie. Slippers and sweatpants. A couch. And more chocolate.

Unfortunately, I’m afraid the tornados may get us. We’ve had everything else. 😥

Mental P Mama April 10, 2008 at 10:42 am

Get to the basement! My taxes are done…everything else? Not so much. It will get better…but seriously, those storms look horrible out there. Take care.

The never-ending tornado watches & warnings are making me a nervous wreck.

Rene April 10, 2008 at 2:04 pm

Taxes suck! We don’t file until October because we can never get our act together. Self-employment makes it that much more difficult.

My week pretty much runs that way as well. If it ain’t one thing its another.

Wine….it helps just about everything seem better, doesn’t it? (sigh)

Kate April 10, 2008 at 6:16 pm

If you had any idea how my week is going . . . sometimes it’s just like that, isn’t it? It’s my knee and I’m not even going to go into it.
Wine would help. But I don’t keep it in the house because I’d always be needing it’s healing properties. I’ll pick some up on Saturday. So until then, it’s plenty of drugs.
Nah, not really. But you were wondering for a moment, weren’tcha?
Take care during that bad weather.

The photos in this post are lovely……..the sky and the pansies………maybe they can cover a multitude of the day’s annoyances. Hang in there.
