Things are moving along nicely at our new house…want to see??
We have siding on most of the house. This nice grey/taupe/beige color, depending on the light hitting it.
Here is the back of the house. We’re going to have a big old deck on the back of the house.
My wonderful front porch with the cute little octagonal pantry window. The porch will have a nice white railing along the front. And my front door? Red, of course. Just like my red door in St. Louis!
Oh, and they are really coming along with the lower level now too! Isn’t it wonderful with all the windows? This is the view you get as you walk down the fabulous open stairway:
SuperGuy has his eye on the space to the right for a pool table…we’ll see 😉
Since I took these pictures they primed the whole house, and they tinted the primer in the Benjamin Moore Pashmina (the first color in that linked blog post). So relieved that we love, love that color on the walls! This next week they are putting down the under layment board thingies for the floor, the cabinets are being delivered and the trim man is coming to do some of that work. Oh, and the tile is getting put down too! Exciting. I’ll have more photos to show soon.

Or some new construction updates:
This is how we spent our 4th of July. Sitting in the back of the truck with some ice cold beer, talking about the house and watching the sunset.
We got sides of the house and inside framing finished. (but why oh why do they park in front of the house to mess up my photos??)
Back of house…with SuperGuy most probably discussing the rocks with The Impish One.
My office with the bay window that will have a window seat. Right after that, they put up the trusses and the roof.
Here is where we spent a day dragging that piece of wood around the kitchen floor trying to decide the best place for the island so the plumber could put in the drain…
View from the island…now that we’ve decided where it goes… (right after I took this, they put in the windows and exterior doors. I’ll have to update soon. Again.)
Last, but not least, my beloved pantry window. Isn’t it cute??
Well, there it is, the promised update! This week we’re supposed to get a/c – heating ducts put in, some more plumbing, the shingles on, and maybe the siding. I will say it’s been fascinating watching the house go up. I’m sure I’m driving the builder nuts with all my questions, but he’s such a great guy, he patiently explains it all to me.
So, as you’ve probably read, SuperGuy and I are having a house built. Even though people told us that we’d never survive the process, we are having a fabulous time.
Anyway, we have tons of choices to make, and we’re dealing pretty well with most of them. Color of siding, front door, carpet, counters, cabinets, roof, color and design of front stamped concrete. Windows–how many and where. Type of metal on fixtures (chrome, brushed nickel, oil rubbed bronze, stainless steel…etc, etc.) Anyway…we’ve been working our way down the list. I think these are all pretty important decisions to pull off the look we want, right?
What is SuperGuy obsessed with in our decision making process??
He keeps asking…over and over and over…what are we going to do with the rocks they dug up when they were clearing the area for the house??? :mad2: Really?? That’s the big decision??
I swear…males are such strange creatures…says the woman surrounded by ever so many males in her family.
Anyway… “Honey, let’s get back to talking about tile flooring. Thanks.” Your loving wife.
