It fascinates me when I look at the names that people choose for their blogs. I often wonder what the story is behind the name and click on the “about” link to see if people tell the story behind the name of their blog.
The name of my blog?
Well, I have this problelm. With wine. With my keyboard. My wine glass has this tendency to spill and kill my keyboard. Now I use those natural keyboards…the ones that are shaped funny to help your wrists, and are not cheap. I’ve killed two of them with spilled wine. My boys actually got me a waterproof keyboard for Christmas one year. Jerks.
So I considered giving up the occasional glass of wine when I write in the evenings…but nah…there has to be a better way…

I picked Real Dirt ’cause of my love for grubbing around in the soil — I love growing flowers & vegetables, and there’s nothing like the smell of sun-warmed dirt in early spring. It’s alive, unlike that sterilized gunk you can buy in bags. Plus, I get plenty of the ‘real’ stuff on me, including the ‘enriched’ kind I haul from the barn to the compost pile, where it gets stirred for a couple of years before it mixes with the native stuff in the garden beds.
And then there’s The Land of Moo, which is where my Real Dirt Blog will move to shortly. I never imagined I’d own cows, but this farm is surrounded by them so we bowed to the inevitable. Turns out, I love ’em.
Weeeeelllll, my blog…whatsalltheruchus.blogspot.com comes from our last name…which is ruch…but is prounounced ruck. And, the fact that we chose to have 3 children in 3 years, which subsequently means we now have 3 teenagers…and many many times throughout their lives I found myself saying…what on earth is all the raucous about…and of course with the whole ruch thing…you can see where it went from there right 🙄
A year or so ago my daughter went to Hollywood to try to get into movies. Early in this venture, there was this creep who really treated her rudely. He was just trying to sell her headshots and “lessons,” instead of representing her, as he first passed himself off. Anyway, he got nasty when she realized he was a con artist and told him “no.” He shot back, “Well, without my help, you’re just a girl from Texas.” (We hadn’t lived in Texas in six years at the time.) So, anyway, we both thought it was funny that he could only come up with that lame line for an insult. I told her she should buy the domain and make that her website. She wasn’t as happy with the idea as I was, so I did it. So now, my website is http://www.girlfromtexas.com I don’t update it often. It’s more for archival stuff. But I also use the same concept for my blog – http://www.girlfromtexas.wordpress.com

Well – Starwood was the name of John Denver’s Home in Aspen, Colorado. I’m a major JD fan. The song tells of how much he loves his home. I too, love my home so I adopted the name Starwoodgal as my online ID.
The name of my BLOG “Something’s Burning” – well – I had a hard time learning to cook when I was younger. Mainly, because I didn’t want to cook but my mother made me help with dinners. And, usually I have 50 things going on so something always burns. Oh well! They still eat it.

I started leaving comments on my daughter’s blog as “Hoosier Mama” which I thought was terribly clever and original. Ha! When she was setting up my blog for me and went to register that name, she found out that it was already used in all kinds of ways, including as a business and as an already established blog! Shoot. So, Add Humor and Faith, Mix Well popped into my head, and I’m glad it did. It describes me much better than Hoosier Mama (which somehow made me think I should get a tatto)!
I live in the country. i like to tell stories. stories are chronicles and i am a country person. not a girl, but it sounded better than chronicles of a country person. or woman. and that is my story.
my photo blog is called “a picture a day” which i think is extremely clever and well-thought out as a blog name.

Well, my domain is actually under my pseudonym but the “title” of the blog is Hollywoodland because I have this mystery series I want to write that’s set in 1920s Hollywood.

MP’s Journal was my first one…and due to alot of stuff I needed to be more “private”.. so..I didn’t know what to call it, so I went with My Second Journal.

I felt for so long that I was hiding behind many masks. I decided to open up and share more of my life … to live authentically. So, I chose “An Authentic Life!”
As a hobby I photograph tombstones for http://www.findagrave.com. For whatever reason I find graveyards to be very peaceful places.
Mental P., jules and I came up with our names New Years Eve of last year. And now I’m saddled with mine…don’t really want to change it…I think…hmmmm.

Flea’s World, domain name thegoodflea.com – I just hunted around till I found something which wasn’t taken. My email has always been fleabyte, which WAS taken as a domain. Darn. And I’m a pretty good Flea. I think. It depends on who you ask.
