Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content. ~ Helen Keller
It is very quiet in my house now. The boys are gone. The girls are gone. I waver between falling face first in the quiet and reveling in it…and wanting to turn on the music and blare some life and noise into my home. I loved every minute of having the house bursting to the seams with people and laughter. I’m strangely soothed and annoyed by the quiet that surrounds me now. Do you ever feel that way?
I guess I just need to give myself a little adjustment time. Or maybe I’m just a TAD overly emotional this week.

Nothing irritates me more than when SuperGuy goes out of town…and leaves me with this much Pinot Grigio left in the bottle.
Notice the fill line…or lack there of fill. Okay, there ARE other things in the world that irritate me more…like shoes that don’t fit, noticing I’m out of gas when I’m late to go somewhere, spilling wine on my keyboard…you know…but having only a smidgen of wine left in the bottle when SuperGuy is gone annoys me.
You see, this might be my favorite wine, (right now) but it has this STUPID synthetic cork and I JUST. CANNOT. GET. THEM. OUT. I’ve tried every corkscrew known to mankind. I’m normally a fairly independent person (unless I’m faking helplessness to get SuperGuy to do something that I don’t want to do myself :secret: )…but this cork just defeats me.
Luckily my favorite son, The Photography One, stopped by and I bribed him offered to take him out to eat and he just out of the blue offered to open up another bottle of wine for me. He’s thoughtful like that.
So all is right with my world. Again.
The. End.

I’m finally doing an actual wedding post! This winery is so gorgeous. Such a wonderful place for a wedding. Forgive the image heavy post.
Matt getting ready for the wedding. Everyone kept asking him if he was nervous. He kept asking “why does everyone keep asking me that?” He doesn’t look nervous, does he?
The groomsmen getting ready for the wedding…no, wait, they are playing with their iPhones… 🙄
Right after Matt saw Stephanie for the first time, at the hotel before the wedding. (they did photos before the wedding and after it.) Here is where a big storm came rushing in… Matt said he kept thinking, do NOT rain on her. Do NOT. See how windy it is? The wind started blowing over those tables and chairs.
The one in which I started crying. Yes, I know. The VERY beginning of the wedding with Matt walking out with the minister. Couldn’t help it. He looks so happy. It still makes me cry to look at it.
When he first saw Stephanie walking down the aisle.
The one where there was a slight mixup of the rings…and Stephanie said, “Mine is the one with the diamonds!” Everyone cracked up. I love that girl!
You may kiss the bride.
The happy couple. I was busy being the mother-of-the-groom so I didn’t get all the photos I would have liked to capture. I was busy staying out of the way of their official photographer too. That was weird not being the one telling people where to stand, where to look, etc. I will have some more photos up later of funny things from the wedding, but I’ll leave you with this, my favorite photo…
(more and bigger photos over at my Kay Pickens St. Louis Photographer Blog.) Check them out!
