Adventures in Gardening

by Kay~Kacey on 7/16/2012

I just want to show you this green pepper while I can…

green pepper in gardenIsn’t she pretty? Well, green peppers don’t agree with SuperGuy, but I thought I’d grow some for me…’cause I love them. So, of course I took this pretty picture of the pepper. Then waited a week to pick it. Yup. A bit rotted on the bottom a week later, doggoneit! ..but I’m still going to stuff it and eat gosh darn it!!! I’m not going to let it go the way of my green beans!!!  The deer stripped the green beans clean the next day.

Yes, I’m detecting a trend. Photograph something in the garden and it’s gone or ruined in a few days… I could leave my camera inside when I go check the garden…maybe….

A Truck with a View

by Kay~Kacey on 7/11/2012

Or some new construction updates:

view from a truck

This is how we spent our 4th of July. Sitting in the back of the truck with some ice cold beer, talking about the house and watching the sunset.

sides up

We got sides of the house and inside framing finished. (but why oh why do they park in front of the house to mess up my photos??)

back of house

Back of house…with SuperGuy most probably discussing the rocks with The Impish One.office bay window

My office with the bay window that will have a window seat.  Right after that, they put up the trusses and the roof.

where does the island go

Here is where we spent a day dragging that piece of wood around the kitchen floor trying to decide the best place for the island so the plumber could put in the drain…

back view

View from the island…now that we’ve decided where it goes… (right after I took this, they put in the windows and exterior doors. I’ll have to update soon. Again.)

pantry window

Last, but not least, my beloved pantry window. Isn’t it cute??

Well, there it is, the promised update! This week we’re supposed to get a/c – heating ducts put in, some more plumbing, the shingles on, and maybe the siding. I will say it’s been fascinating watching the house go up. I’m sure I’m driving the builder nuts with all my questions, but he’s such a great guy, he patiently explains it all to me.

Building a House-Male vs Female

by Kay~Kacey on 7/9/2012

So, as you’ve probably read, SuperGuy and I are having a house built. Even though people told us that we’d never survive the process, we are having a fabulous time.

Anyway, we have tons of choices to make, and we’re dealing pretty well with most of them. Color of siding, front door, carpet, counters, cabinets, roof, color and design of front stamped concrete. Windows–how many and where. Type of metal on fixtures (chrome, brushed nickel, oil rubbed bronze, stainless steel…etc, etc.) Anyway…we’ve been working our way down the list. I think these are all pretty important decisions to pull off the look we want, right?

What is SuperGuy obsessed with in our decision making process??

rocks from construction

He keeps asking…over and over and over…what are we going to do with the rocks they dug up when they were clearing the area for the house??? :mad2:   Really?? That’s the big decision??

I swear…males are such strange creatures…says the woman surrounded by ever so many males in her family.

Anyway… “Honey, let’s get back to talking about tile flooring. Thanks.” Your loving wife.
