Pink knock out roses with sun burst

But he that dares not grasp the thorn Should never crave the rose. ~Anne Bronte

These are the beautiful pink knockout roses that are out my office window at The Love Nest. I have to admit, I will miss them when we move. Hm, note to self…ask SuperGuy to plant some out the window of my new office. Anyway, I love the light. I actually shot these right through the screen and you can see a faint pattern of the screen in this shot. Love that.

Now, I’m back to picking out faucets for the new place…which still has no name, but does have a walls and a roof. I need to get on an update post on that too. But right now I’m knee deep in deciding on faucets, carpet, and tile… I cannot believe how many decisions have to be made when you build a house. I picked out siding last week. A medium gray tone. I think. And we spent hours deciding on exactly where to put the kitchen island so the plumber could come in this week…all while on pain pills for a messed up back…so I’m hoping I didn’t pick anything stupid… My sister doesn’t seem to have much confidence that I made any sane decisions…We’ll see.

Hope you all had a wonderful Father’s Day. We sure did. Had a BBQ here…had to put up the pop up canopy to get some shade in the nasty heat! Do you have one of those? About $99 from Walmart, but we use it all the time. Easy to put up and take down. Use it for shade, rain protection, and when we go to the beach. Facetimed with my youngest, and I’m still not sure my parents knew what was going on with that.  Anyway the party started at 1pm…the stragglers left about 6:30pm. Fabulous. Thanks to my oldest for staying and helping us take everything down and put things away. You are my favorite.

And, weirdly…I took not one photo. Not. One. So not like me.

A few updates on construction on our new place. Not much happened the last few weeks. We did get yet more cement poured. Here is our stamped concrete front porch. Isn’t it pretty? I love how it looks like old weathered boards. Will fit in with my farm house/seaside cottage feel that I’m going for.

stamped concreteThen, the other night I talked SuperGuy into going out to the land just at sunset. I saw the clouds forming and said “run, run, we HAVE to go out to the land and grab sunset photos.” To SuperGuy’s credit, he didn’t even roll his eyes. He just got up and grabbed the truck keys…

So worth it. I got this:

Anyway, if you want to follow along on some of the inspiration I’m getting for our Columbia house, feel free to follow my COMO House board on Pinterest. We have lots of decisions left to make. I’m sure I”ll be asking for opinions, because, you know, I’m like that.

Bountiful Harvest

Well, not. It appears that this might be our lone green bean producing plant. But I’m stupidly excited about it!!

green bean plant…and for some reason, it’s in the middle of the flower garden, not our incredibly tiny veggie garden. Well, we call it a veggie garden…but really, it just basically provides basil and mint for mojitos all summer… :hysterical:

Okay, it does have one tomatoe plant. Some asparagus we’ve been trying to grow for 3 years now…and this one bean plant. Just not enough sun in the backyard to grow much. But wait until we have a super sized garden at the new place in Columbia!!! Next year, my friends. Next year.
