Ah, remember when SuperGuy made the neato keeno arbor archway down to the gazebo? Sure you do. It looks like this:
Okay, the arbor looks crooked here but I swear on all things sacred and my boys’ baby booties that this arbor is spot on straight on. If you ever met SuperGuy, you’d know I was telling the absolute truth. He doesn’t do things halfway. Ever.
Anyway, these pretty white flowers are now climbing all over it. Doesn’t it look lovely. Of course, we can’t remember the name of the flower, but SuperGuy is going to ask at the nursery the next time he goes in. Which is about weekly–if not twice on the weekends– by the way. The nursery owners love us this year.
Here is the flower climbing right up with our clear lights that we have had lighting the walkway to the gazebo. The squirrels decided they had to eat through the wiring on these lights… :mad2: Next Christmas, we’re stocking up on clear lights, that’s for sure! Let me know when you see a sale!
Ah, the great backyard makeover!
Things are coming along nicely! Nothing like a couple of big events in the backyard to motivate us to get it all prettied up! Oldest Texas Boy graduated from Texas Tech…and we’re having a big old graduation party for him Saturday. Then, of course, the Magnificent Rehearsal Dinner ™ next week.
In the upper garden, I’m waiting until the last minute to finish cutting off the remains of the tulips and daffodils. They are pretty browned out by now. We have one more flat of petunias to put in here, then I think we’ll call it quits.
Pots of pretty variegated geraniums line the stone stairway.
We got some more furniture for the courtyard area…but most of the time people just perch all along the walls.
We got some comfortable wicker furniture for the gazebo. SuperGuy rescreened the gazebo and replaced the door. We got a new rug. (I think it’s cute, but it needs to be flattened out again!) The gazebo has a ceiling fan. So nice in the summer time. All this photo needs is me and an ice cold beer, don’t you think?
I’m getting pretty excited, can you tell??
Thanks for all the advice on replacing the deer crack…I mean, Delphiniums. I appreciate all the suggestions!
We decide to put out lavender plants. 1) I love them 2) so far the deer have ignored all the lavender we have around the house 3) I love lavender 4) it’s right under my office window and smells heavenly 5) Did I mention I love lavender??
SuperGuy also moved the hydrangea plant he put in just a few weeks ago. It was getting too much sun. As you can see, it’s thriving in it’s new partial sun spot! So pretty!
We also worked on cleaning up the gazebo, washing it all out and bought new indoor/outdoor carpeting for it. SuperGuy is rescreening a few sections of it. When we get it all finished, I’ll be sure to show it off with some photos. Of course!
So, how was your Memorial Day weekend? Did you keep busy??
