Ah, the great backyard makeover!
Things are coming along nicely! Nothing like a couple of big events in the backyard to motivate us to get it all prettied up! Oldest Texas Boy graduated from Texas Tech…and we’re having a big old graduation party for him Saturday. Then, of course, the Magnificent Rehearsal Dinner ™ next week.
In the upper garden, I’m waiting until the last minute to finish cutting off the remains of the tulips and daffodils. They are pretty browned out by now. We have one more flat of petunias to put in here, then I think we’ll call it quits.
Pots of pretty variegated geraniums line the stone stairway.
We got some more furniture for the courtyard area…but most of the time people just perch all along the walls.
We got some comfortable wicker furniture for the gazebo. SuperGuy rescreened the gazebo and replaced the door. We got a new rug. (I think it’s cute, but it needs to be flattened out again!) The gazebo has a ceiling fan. So nice in the summer time. All this photo needs is me and an ice cold beer, don’t you think?
I’m getting pretty excited, can you tell??
Wake up! It’s summer!
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood! (oops, you’ll be singing Fred Rogers all day now, won’t you??)
We planted and weeded and cleaned all weekend long. I can barely move.
But how can you help but smile when you see these wild, colorful flowers??
Why, yes, my affection can be bought by a random bouquet from the supermarket. I’m easy like that…
I’m getting excited! My babies are all coming to town the end of this week! A week long extravaganza of maleness, laughter and not much sleep. Ah, I love my life!
(I need to take photos of the backyard so you can see how pretty it all turned out!)
Ah, yes. The weekend. What does it hold?
More backyard make over, I’m sure! A rehearsal dinner in the backyard is a powerful motivator, you know?
I’m also going to a 40th Birthday party for my cousin! I’m not sure how she got that old…she’s quite a bit younger than I am…and I’m. Not. Very. Old. Just sayin’ Not sure how she keeps getting closer in age to me…
Happy Birthday, Chris the Girl. (that’s what my boys always called her, because they have a cousin Chris too…but he’s a boy 😆 )
Enjoy your weekend!!
