The Love Nest

Chasing Light

by Kay~Kacey on 1/10/2011

So we were over at The Love Nest, and I was TRYING to set up my office over there. The small bedroom I’m using has one small window. So I set up my desk…only to discover the window light shines right on the computer screen. Okay, that won’t work. So I move it on another wall.

sunlight on wall

Well, yes right where that patch of sunlight is hitting about say, 3pm. :wallbash: So I move it all the way down the wall.

sunlight in office

So the very late afternoon sun hits just right above the computer. Okay. I can live with that. (the wall the desk really needs to be on to avoid the glare, unfortunately has the closet smack dab in the center of the wall.)

So my nearly naked office:

home office

Desk, computer, rocking chair. I’m into a minimalist amount of furniture and stuff at The Love Nest. (as an aside, I drive SuperGuy nuts at the Love Nest because I want everything picked up and put away. Neat. Tidy. No clutter. Our house in St. Louis…well, I’ve lived there for 28 years and it is bursting at the seams with STUFF. I love how The Love Nest is just so…well…uncluttered.).

This lovely, barren office compared to my desk in St. Louis…. :surrender:

Okay, this was after a computer disaster, so it’s messier than usual, but still. This is on my list of New Year’s Resolutions–you know, the ones I don’t make– :toofunny: to clean up this office this year. (that towel hanging there is blocking the glare…)

As another aside…the good thing about the naked office at The Love Nest? I have the whole room to do my Zumba in. (yes, still sore. Still learning the steps.)

This is a Mean Post

So, the New Love Nest? Well….

crown moldingIt has crown molding. Everywhere. Already put up. And painted.

Rumor has it that someone who shall remain nameless (The Adorable Wife of the Geeky One), has been asking for crown molding to be put up in their house for, um, like over a year. SuperGuy and The Geeky One TALK about it a lot. Plan it. Discuss it. Talk some more. But no crown molding for her. :shakehead:

Crown molding in family room

Well, some of us have it up in our home. Already. Without all the planning, discussing, thinking, talking, etc. I’m just sayin’ If anyone REALLY wants crown molding, they might want to make sure it comes with the house… :hysterical: There, I’m finished being mean and rubbing it in. Kind of…

(Steph, I’m thinking maybe you should throw a crown molding party! That’s it! Invite everyone over and mention they should, um, wear old clothes.  💡 )

The Love Nest – Chapter Two

Ah, our new Love Nest.

New House

I’ve finally recovered enough to post some photos…isn’t she cute?? I love our New Love Nest!

We’re having a running debate on furniture arrangement…but this is what SuperGuy came up with…for now. Until I out vote him. :hysterical:  I love the gas fireplace. Flip a switch on the wall and it’s on. Another switch and it has a heat fan thingie ™ that blows the hot air out. Love. Look at all those bare walls that beg for photos!

bedroom cove lighting

Here is our darling bedroom. See that cove lighting up at the ceiling?? Love and adore that!!

reading corner

And my reading corner right by the window. (The big ugly TV is going away, but SuperGuy doesn’t know that yet. :secret: )

As if!! SuperGuy’s way to hide the big mollie bolts poking out from the kitchen wall. Right. I especially love his choice of the outdoor thermometer up there. :loser:

Here’s the view out our kitchen. Yes, I don’t know either? Why would someone strip out the branches of that dead tree and leave that huge tree stump?? I see a chainsaw in SuperGuy’s future. Behind those trees is some land they cleared out to put in flood pipe thingies, then past that is a creek. (Grindstone creek, Annie.).

So we’re supposed to have internet turned on this week, thank goodness!! I missed you guys. Plus getting satellite TV set up…with a DVR…which we’ve never had (Vicki, did you see that? We’re moving into this century, slowly but surely!).  Anyway, lots to do. Painting. Washer and dryer. SuperGuy is chomping at the bit to fix up the yard, but most of that will have to wait until spring.

Anyway, there she is. The Love Nest – Chapter Two. :love2:
