I’m into Clouds these days

by Kay~Kacey on 6/27/2008

I find myself taking copious amounts of photos of clouds these days. Look! A fluffy white one! Look! A dark almost green one! Look!

So, of course I’ve been hopping around looking at different SkyWatch Friday posts around the blogosphere. It’s hosted by Tom Wigley, who has some gorgeous photography on his blog.

I thought I’d share one of my recent cloud shots with you. Right before a storm hit.

thick storm clouds Can’t you just feel how heavy they are? How heavy the air is?

Some of my all time favorite cloud photos are here. Though I didn’t much like the driving through all the storms on this road trip!

How about you? Are you a cloud watcher? Do you find yourself grabbing your camera and capturing the perfect sky? Or throwing yourself down in the cool grass and watching the clouds make pictures just for your enjoyment? Remember this strange cloud that we tried to figure out what it was?

If not clouds, is there something else you’re fascinated with photographing these days?

It takes a lot of work

Will Smith was on Good Morning America the other day and said this:

“There’s a separation of talent and skill. One of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, wanting to do things, [is that] talent you have naturally, skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft.”

I have to remind myself of that. I remind myself regularly. Whether I’m frustrated with my writing, or my photography…I have to tell myself it takes time and practice. Over and over.

I have to remind myself it takes time when I’m stuck on a chapter of my novel and everything is falling apart. I have to remind myself when I’m trying to capture the perfect photo…and it comes out nothing like I’ve pictured in my mind. Heck, when my kids were little, I had to remind myself that parenting skill doesn’t happen overnight!

How about you? Is there anything you’re working on these days that you have to keep reminding yourself not to give up? That it takes time?

Favorite Thing About Summer

by Kay~Kacey on 6/25/2008

So what is your favorite thing about summer? I can tell you mine, and it’s just a little thing.

Going barefoot

barefoot in the grass

Nothing better than walking barefoot in the cool grass. I’m just not a shoe person.

watching the birds

I prop my bare feet in the window sill and sit and watch my birds.

nothing like bare feet

There is NOTHING like going barefoot. Nothing. Such a little summer luxury that I truly appreciate. (and these photos show me it’s time to do my nails again…)

How about you? Are you a barefoot person? What’s your favorite thing about summertime?
